Zhang Bin was left utterly bewildered by Yang Ce, though he was still quite in awe of Yang Ce's prowess with women. Back then, Chen Shutang had been the school beauty, and Yang Ce had won her over with ease; afterward, Lan Ling and Lin Yanhe had all been beauties among beauties. With some time still to go before the concert began, Zhang Bin launched into the story of his one-night stand that day, going on and on about how flirtatious the woman had been, until Yang Ce was left speechless. "You know I don't care for that sort of thing."
"Why don't you give it a try too? It really feels good—no responsibility, no psychological burden." Zhang Bin, however, recommended it.
Right—no responsibility. Yang Ce shook his head. But he truly could not bring himself to do it. He had thought Sun Jie might become his one-night stand, but now the lights in the hall were gradually dimming. The concert was about to begin.
To be continued.
821. Back Then...
821 Back then, bursts of screams and applause rose again and again from the Macau Forum. Shu Ya's fans were all in a state of extreme excitement, fervently calling out Shu Ya's name.
Because Macau was an international metropolis, the number of people who came here was plainly twice that of Songjiang—a boon owed also to the Macau Forum being far larger than the Songjiang Stadium.
Exquisite, splendid lights suddenly shot toward the stage; a mist dispersed, and a lift platform rose slowly. Shu Ya's fresh, elegant figure appeared before the public eye. The audience below instantly boiled over, waving their glow sticks and loudly calling Shu Ya's name. Some even unfurled huge banners and waved them about the hall.
"Dear friends, good evening." Though Shu Ya was well accustomed to such scenes, she was still infected by the fans' enthusiasm and responded warmly, bringing them her most sincere greetings.
Yang Ce was not as frenzied as the others. He smiled with great composure, yet his gaze was fixed tightly on Shu Ya's face.
Was this a face behind a mask? Why could he not detect the slightest flaw? Yang Minlan had always trusted his own eyes, but ever since he learned that Shu Ya wore a similar pair of glasses, his confidence had begun to waver.
Perhaps these two objects were like spear and shield—two pairs of glasses crafted by the same eccentric old man, each with a function to guard against the other.
At this thought, Yang Yongjin could not help but find it rather amusing: these two remarkable pairs of glasses had actually ended up one with him and one with Shu Ya.
"Boss, the way you're acting, you don't look like any kind of rabid fan." Zhang Bin studied Yang Ce's rather indifferent expression and said, puzzled, "How come you're so unenthusiastic?"
"Does enthusiasm have to be written all over my face? Besides, my love for Shu Ya isn't the same as theirs." Yang Ce shook his head.
"Damn," Zhang Bin said with disdain. "You love her, but she might not love you back." How could Zhang Bin know of the tangled past between Yang Ce and Shu Ya? He assumed the two were simply strangers.
"Heh, do you know who Shu Ya's first love was?" Yang Ce did not answer Zhang Bin's question, but asked one of his own.
"How would I know? What do you take me for, a paparazzo? Don't tell me you're about to say that Shu Ya's first love was you." Zhang Bin twisted his mouth and spoke in jest.
"Something like that." Yang Ce smiled mysteriously and said no more.
Because the concert had already begun. The opening song was in Cantonese—different from Songjiang—though most of the fans here came from Guangdong and Hong Kong and understood Cantonese well enough.
Even so, Yang Shuoxuan could follow the Cantonese, and what was more, over the past two days Yang Ce had downloaded all of Shu Ya's albums, so nearly every song was familiar to his ear.
