Chapter 147 — The Long-Awaited...
Years of Heartflutter · Page 73 of 501
The fourth time was when Hou Lin robbed Lin Yanhe. He had never had any gift for thievery, and it was his first time doing such a thing, so nerves were inevitable; and Yang Ce, afraid he might hurt Lin Yanhe, would certainly not have relaxed mentally.
The fifth time was when Yang Dashan was kidnapped, and Yang Xutang heard the thoughts of the man in the baseball cap. Perhaps the man could not withstand the torment, and the fear in his heart was simply too great, which was why his thoughts leaked out—but that Yang Ce's mind had been highly focused at the time was certain.
The few times after that were basically the same. Only when his own attention was focused and the other party was likewise extremely tense did the ability appear.
Yang Ce decided to find an opportunity to test it, though such an opportunity would be hard to come by in the near future.
Before seeing Zhang Dejun, Yang Ce planned to stop by a flower shop first. Since he had promised Sun Jie to send her a bouquet every day, Yang Shuoxuan did not want to go back on his word.
He called Bao Lin and asked about the better flower shops in the city, then drove the BMW X5—its windshield newly replaced—toward the flower shop.
The shop was sizable, a good four or five hundred square meters, and the variety of flowers inside was quite complete; it was said they had their own greenhouses. He had barely stepped through the door when an attendant came over to greet him: "Sir, are you here to buy flowers?"
"Do you offer a delivery service here? I mean, I give you the money, and you send flowers to a fixed place every day." Yang Yanchuan said.
"Yes, sir. Our shop partners with Haitong Express in this city; our delivery network is the most complete of any flower shop in town, and we also handle out-of-town deliveries." The attendant explained with a smile. "If you want to send flowers to a friend, sir, you can register at the service desk over there, fill out a greeting card, and set the delivery time."
"All right, take me over." Yang Yuting nodded.
The attendant led Yang Ce to the service desk, where he saw a familiar face.
"Ha, hey man, you here to send flowers to your girlfriend too?" Li Yixun was filling out cards; he looked up, saw Yang Ce approaching, and hurriedly called out, "Sorry about last time! I saw it from nearby—you got covered in roses when you fell. Let me buy you a meal later, as compensation."
"Don't mention last time," Yang Jincong said with a laugh. Wang Yanqiu had actually thought he was the one sending her flowers—what a mess.
"Then it's settled—I'll treat you to a meal later!" With that, Li Yixun went back to writing his cards. It was a whole stack, a month's worth, and Li Yixun racked his brains to make every card's sweet talk different.
Yang Ce picked up a few at random and found that the fellow actually had some literary flair—the lines were quite moving. Yang Duo sighed at his own inferiority, so after settling the address and number of flowers to be delivered daily with the attendant, he casually took up Li Yixun's cards and copied from them. The sentiment was what mattered; Sun Jie would not care whether he had written the words himself.
Li Yixun had not signed his cards, but Yang Jiyan did sign his—otherwise, if Sun Jie took them for some mysterious admirer's and simply threw them away, would he not have sent them for nothing?
Once he had finished copying, Yang Ce handed the cards to the attendant, paid, and left the shop with Li Yixun.
"Which of these two stacks is which?" The attendant had been distracted a moment before and mixed up the two piles of cards in her hands.
"They wrote the same thing—both stacks are the same." The other attendant did not even look, just took the cards and put them on the corresponding racks.
"Shall we grab a meal together?" Li Yixun asked Yang Ce.
