Chapter 825 — The Little Troublemaker

The Blossom Guardian · Page 1 of 2

When Manager Wang saw that Gu Mengyao had changed her mind and no longer wanted the dress, and then watched Gou Huli stalk off in a fury, he could guess well enough what had happened: Gou Huli must have offended the young lady, and the young lady had gotten angry with her, which had led to this scene.

Naturally, Manager Wang was not about to ask. If the young lady did not want it, then she did not want it. He kept up his pretense of knowing nothing and said to Gu Mengyao, "Miss Gu, why don't you look around a bit more? If you need anything at all, feel free to contact me anytime. Here is my card..."

"Very well, Manager Wang. Go about your business, then." The young lady took the card he offered and handed it to Wei Zhao.

Manager Wang looked at Wei Zhao, and a flicker of something strange passed through his eyes. Rumor had it that Gu Pengzhan had found himself a son-in-law, the company's second-largest shareholder—yet one who had never once attended a board meeting. Could this man beside the young lady be that second-largest shareholder?

But judging by his clothes and bearing, he certainly looked shabby enough. Even so, Manager Wang did not dare underestimate him. Rich men had all sorts of peculiar tastes. And look at the young lady herself—she wore nothing but the ordinary tracksuit issued by her school. From appearances alone, no one could possibly guess who she was.

Gu Mengyao had no desire to keep shopping either. There was nothing she wanted to buy, so she said to Shen Yushu, "Xiaoshu, what shall we do now?"

"I don't know. I was actually pretty excited—I thought I'd get to watch a fun head-pulling, but that old hag turned out to be a fraud." Shen Yushu complained, somewhat peeved. "I'm so bored. Let's go see if there's anything fun to do?"

"What fun could there possibly be around here?" Gu Mengyao did not think there was anything entertaining on this commercial street.

"There is! Not far from here there's a Tandy Wonderful Years arcade. I want to check it out..." Shen Yushu said.

"What's so interesting about an arcade? There are lots of thugs and lowlifes from the streets there—it's dangerous!" Gu Mengyao said instinctively. Shen Yushu had wanted to go to an arcade before, but Gu Mengyao had refused her using that very excuse.

"Now we have Arrow Brand Bro, so there's nothing to be afraid of!" Shen Yushu said. "If any thugs bother us, we'll just have Arrow Brand Bro beat them up!"

Gu Mengyao was momentarily taken aback at Shen Yushu's words. Indeed, now that there was a top fighter like Lin Da beside them, there really was no danger. Ordinary small-time thugs would not be able to do anything to Wei Zhao.

"Wei Zhao, Xiaoshu wants to go to the arcade?" Gu Mengyao looked toward Wei Zhao.

Wei Zhao was somewhat surprised—the young lady had actually begun asking for his opinion? She never used to do that. It seemed that after the incident at the hospital, the young lady really had changed a little.

"Then let's go. It's the weekend, after all." Wei Zhao did not mind. "Since we're out already, there's no harm in taking a look."

Wei Zhao figured that if he let these two girls go back and paint the house, he would probably end up suffering for it. Better to let them go raise hell at the arcade instead.

In truth, Gu Mengyao also wanted to see what an arcade was like. She was a grown woman now—if she told people she had never been to an arcade, would they laugh at her? Yet that truly was the life the young lady and Xiaoshu had led before they met Wei Zhao: seemingly glamorous, but flat and flavorless.

The three of them left Pengzhan Commercial Building. Wei Zhao drove, following the directions Shen Yushu gave, and arrived at a large entertainment center that combined electronic games, billiards, and an internet cafe all in one. There were plenty of young people coming here to play, and from the frequency of people going in and out, one could tell the business was booming.
