Dong Jun picked up the phone and glanced at the caller ID. His brow furrowed immediately.
The caller was none other than the Right Elder. Dong Jun had no interest whatsoever in idle chatter with this pompous blowhard. After all, ever since he had set his mind on breaking away from Dr. Banlin's inner circle, he had effectively become one of Yan's people. So when it came to the Right Elder, Dong Jun was not particularly inclined to maintain too close a relationship.
But to keep the Right Elder from sensing anything amiss, and to avoid rousing Dr. Banlin's suspicions, Dong Jun had no choice but to keep playing along with the Right Elder. After all, Dr. Banlin had instructed him to keep constant tabs on Yang Juehuan. If he suddenly stopped caring about such matters, that would definitely raise red flags.
So after adjusting his mood, Dong Jun put on an air of tremendous enthusiasm and answered the call: "Hello? Right Elder? It's been a long time since you've called me—what a rare guest!"
Originally, the Right Elder had felt somewhat uneasy before calling Dong Jun. After all, the last time he had called, Dong Jun had been indifferent and dismissive. But the Right Elder wanted someone to show off his achievements to, and that someone could not be one of his subordinates—Dong Jun, a former collaborator, was the only option.
However, upon hearing the warmth in Dong Jun's voice, the Right Elder breathed a sigh of relief. Perhaps Dong Jun had simply been in a bad mood the last time he answered. The Right Elder had not taken it too much to heart. At least this time, Dong Jun's attitude was thoroughly satisfying.

"Not bad, haha. You have no idea—I pulled off something big recently!" Dong Yan said.
"Oh? What big thing?" the Right Elder asked, somewhat curious.
"I mailed all the photos of Yang Ce and his woman together to Yang Juehuan's first wife. By now, his household is probably in an uproar, hahahaha!" Dong Jun said this deliberately, to show closeness with the Right Elder. Although he already knew that Chen Shutang and the others had neatly defused the situation, he still brought it up as a conversation starter.
"So that's it, haha. You're a nasty one, aren't you!" The Right Elder laughed upon hearing this. "But what you did is nowhere near as interesting as what I've been up to!"
"Oh? And what have you been doing lately?" Dong Jun asked, feigning keen interest without betraying a thing. In truth, he had already learned of Yang Juehuan's recent situation from Fang Tian.
"Haha, let me tell you..." With that, the Right Elder recounted how Yang Ce and his people had schemed several times to deal with him, only to fail every time. He concluded with a hearty laugh: "Yang Ce is like a clown in my hands—no matter what he does, he can't escape my palm. Every time, they probably set out full of hope to take me down, but in the end, it all comes to nothing. They've made absolutely no progress!"
"So that's how it is... hahahaha, then Yang Ce really is a fool..." Dong Jun said this aloud, but inwardly he was growing anxious. Yang Ce was actually powerless? Did that mean Yang Juehuan's methods had all failed, that he was incapable of dealing with the Right Elder?
Now, Yang Juehuan's safety and Dong Jun's own fate were inextricably linked. If Yang Ce could return safely, that would naturally be good—Dong Jun could join forces with him against the Center.
