Hou Lin naturally had no objection. The car belonged to Yang Ce in the first place, so it was only natural for him to take it.
Yang Ce's mindset had changed now. Since his parents knew he was rich, and he was openly running a jewelry company and investing in a bus factory, there was no need to be secretive about anything anymore.
His original plan to buy a cheap car to get around in was abandoned. Hou Lin's BMW X5 felt good to drive and handled excellently; Yang Ce had taken a liking to it and simply asked for it outright.
His mindset had changed. He'd thought he was already quite rich before, sitting on over three hundred million US dollars—but who would have guessed that when Dorsk was dying, he'd manage to wring nearly forty billion euros out of him.
You could say that even if Yang Ce squandered it, this money would last him dozens of lifetimes. So this assassin business really was lucrative—his first mission had brought in such a massive haul.
And besides, there was still a diamond mine in South Africa that he hadn't taken over yet. With his special ability, that would be another enormous fortune.
The car stopped at the entrance of the abandoned warehouse and was immediately blocked by several men. It seemed these people were quite vigilant. Yang Ce rolled down the window and said to the man blocking him, "It's me."
"Boss!" Seeing that it was Yang Ce in the car, the others quickly opened the main gate of the warehouse yard and let them through.
Li Qiang, Liu Chao, and Wang Peng had clearly already received word from the men on gate duty; they were standing at the warehouse entrance to welcome them.
"Boss! President Hou!" The three of them greeted Yang Ce and Hou Lin the moment they stepped out of the car.
Yang Ce nodded, quite satisfied with the current setup. Clear division of labor and strict military-style management had greatly increased the security and secrecy of this place.
Although no one in Songjiang would come looking for trouble here, Yang Ce demanded strict discipline in order to raise these men's overall quality.
"Li Qiang!" Yang Ce called out loudly.
"Sir!" Li Qiang immediately jogged over to Yang Ce, snapped to attention, and answered crisply, "What are your orders, boss?"
"Did you complete the training tasks I assigned before I left?" Yang Ce asked.
"Reporting to the boss: Squads One and Two have fully completed their training tasks. Squad Three has one member who pulled a muscle during training and is currently resting," Li Qiang reported loudly.
"Oh? Is it serious?" Yang Ce asked with some concern.
Li Qiang hadn't expected Yang Ce to care so much about an inconspicuous team member, and was immediately deeply moved. Though he and the others had essentially sold their lives to Yang Ce, and even if Yang Ce treated them like servants they wouldn't complain, they were still human beings with feelings—they hoped to be respected.
"Thank you for your concern, boss!" Wang Peng, captain of Squad Three, quickly reported to Yang Ce. "Squad Three member Lu Xinyang pulled a leg muscle during training. He's recuperating now and should make a full recovery in about a month."
"I see." Yang Ce frowned slightly. "Take me to see him."
"Yes, sir!" Wang Peng answered promptly, then led the way. "This way, boss."
Wang Peng brought Yang Ce to the warehouse dormitories. These had originally been the warehouse workers' quarters, left idle after the warehouse was abandoned. After Li Qiang and the others moved in, they had renovated the dorms, and the environment inside was quite decent.
When they reached a dormitory, Wang Peng pushed the door open and called inside, "Lu Xinyang, the boss has come to see you himself."
Lu Xinyang was lying on his bed at that moment reading The Art of War. Ever since he had strained a muscle in his leg, he had been anxious; not only was his training held up, but he was by nature a man who could not sit still.
