Chapter 353 — The Young Miss's Concern

The Blossom Guardian

Wei Zhao parked the car at the villa gate and then exchanged a few words with Gu Mengyao. Since it was Gu Mengyao who had given the nod to the evening's business with An Liwen, she said nothing about it.

Just as Wei Zhao reached the door, Gu Mengyao suddenly spoke up. "Don't drink so much, and don't go to those disreputable places!"

"Huh?" Wei Zhao was taken aback. He had not expected Gu Mengyao of all people to show concern. The words carried an imperious tone, yet he could hear the caring beneath them.

"Nothing. Suit yourself." Seeing his astonishment, Gu Mengyao turned her head away and ignored him. She had a vague inkling of what An Liwen was up to. Though she rarely took part in the activities of these rich kids, she knew something of their methods, especially with a little spy like Shen Yushu around; the dealings of An Liwen and his crowd were no mystery to her.

This was one of the reasons Gu Mengyao had never harbored any feeling for An Liwen beyond that of a brother. Drinking and whoring all day, and he still wanted her for a girlfriend? As if!

"Ha, don't worry. I'm actually a very good boy." Wei Zhao smiled and turned to leave the villa.

"Chewing Gum Bro, go teach those two a lesson! I'll be cheering you on. You have to make a proper spectacle of them!" Shen Yushu pumped her fist.

"I'll do what I can." Wei Zhao nodded. Even if Shen Yushu had not said it, he was already minded to teach that nuisance An Liwen a lesson and spare himself the endless pestering.

Only after Wei Zhao had gone out did Shen Yushu speak. "Sister Yaoyao, I have a big piece of news for you!"

"Oh? So what did you hear when you went out just now?" Gu Mengyao had dispatched Shen Yushu as her spy satellite again. Wei Zhao could spot her, but An Liwen might not, and so every word An Liwen had said earlier had been overheard by Shen Yushu, clear as day.

"Brother Jianwen and Brother Taizao said they're going to get Chewing Gum Bro a chicken, film it, and mail it to your daddy, so he'll be ruined and you can break up with him!" Shen Yushu said.

"A chicken?" Gu Mengyao blinked. Order a chicken? Only then did she realize Shen Yushu meant the slang term; she had thought it was a dish at the restaurant. Her face flushed at once. "Xiaoshu, don't use such vulgar words. They are called hostesses!"

"Oh, so hostesses. They're going to find Chewing Gum Bro a hostess!" Shen Yushu nodded. "Sister Yaoyao, should we warn Chewing Gum Bro in advance so he doesn't fall for it?"

"No need! If he's stupid enough to fall for a trick like that, then it serves him right for being so lecherous. Daddy can just fire him!" Gu Mengyao gave a cold snort. In her heart she thought An Liwen truly vile, and wondered whether Shen Yushu's brother had once been the same.

When Wei Zhao stepped out of the villa, he saw a Porsche 911 parked behind An Liwen's Ferrari, and standing beside it was Su Taizao, the very man they had run into at the amusement park restaurant that day!

Wei Zhao's impression of Su Taizao was not good. The fellow had been all shouting and bluster that day, and Wei Zhao found him rather distasteful. Yet now the man wore a face full of smiles. Seeing Wei Zhao come out, he offered a thoroughly insincere greeting. "Mr. Wei Zhao, really, what a pleasure to see you! About that business with Brother An the other day, thank you!"

Wei Zhao waved a hand and paid him no mind, but An Liwen came forward to meet him. "Brother Lin, I never imagined you and Yaoyao were actually in the same class!"

An Liwen had already looked into the matter and learned that Wei Zhao was Gu Mengyao's classmate, so by age he naturally addressed him as Brother Lin, a form of address that also carried a note of familiarity.

"Ha... is that so." Wei Zhao gave a faint nod. "Weren't we going to eat?"

"That's right, we're heading over now! I've already booked a private room at the Starlight Radiance Grand Hotel. Let's go!" Fearing Wei Zhao might not know it, An Liwen explained, "The Starlight Radiance Grand Hotel is one of the most luxurious hotels in the city. We used to go there all the time!"

"And they have special services!" Su Taizao came over just then, clapping Wei Zhao familiarly on the shoulder with the air of one man to another, all tacit understanding.

"Is that so? Then I'll have to see it for myself!" Wei Zhao nodded, wearing an expectant look that said he understood perfectly. Inwardly he was sneering. Gu Mengyao had been right after all; these two were up to no good and meant to set a trap for him!

Seeing that Wei Zhao showed neither refusal nor distaste, An Liwen let out a breath of relief, and Su Taizao was quietly delighted. The only fear had been that he would refuse; if he agreed, everything was easy! There was no shortage of entertainment, and no fear he would not enjoy himself! But once the fun was over, he would have to pay a price... heh heh!

"Let's set off now! Ride in my car?" An Liwen asked, pointing at his Ferrari.

"No, I'll drive myself." Wei Zhao pointed at his beat-up old van.

"This..." An Liwen was taken aback. He had not expected Wei Zhao to turn down the sports car and drive a beat-up old thing instead. It caught him off guard, but since Wei Zhao was willing, he said nothing more. "Fine. Having your own car is more convenient anyway!"

An Liwen and Su Tai got in first and started the engine, heading for the Starlight Radiance Grand Hotel, with Wei Zhao following behind in his car.

The Starlight Radiance Grand Hotel lived up to its name as one of Songshan City's most luxurious establishments, combining dining, entertainment, karaoke, and nightclub all under one roof. Its parking lot alone was as big as a stadium.

An Liwen and Su Tai had already driven into the parking lot. Wei Zhao followed them in, only to be stopped by a security guard.

"Hey, deliveries go around to the back gate!" The guard glared at Wei Zhao. "Have you no manners? New here, are you?"

"Deliveries?" Wei Zhao blinked, realizing the guard had misunderstood. He shook his head. "I'm here to eat."

"Eat?" The guard was stunned for a moment, then burst out laughing. "You came to eat in that wreck? Do you have any idea what the minimum spend here is? One meal would buy that clunker of yours! All right, stop causing trouble and get lost!"

"I really am here to eat." Wei Zhao had no wish to argue with a lowly guard who judged people by appearances, so he explained, "Whatever the minimum spend is, that's not my concern. Someone else is treating me."

"Someone's treating you? Who would treat you? Come on, stop putting on airs and clear off. I've seen plenty of your sort — ten a day at least, if not eight. Here to steal from the parking lot, aren't you?" The guard gave Wei Zhao a contemptuous look. "Who'd treat you to a meal? Only if they'd lost their mind!"

Though his position was lowly, the guard was still a guard at the Starlight Radiance, and he could not help but feel he stood a cut above ordinary folk.
