Chapter 289 — All Alone, Part 1

Shen Miaotu jumped in fright and hurriedly gathered his wits. "Brother Long, in the current situation, we still have to follow the proper procedures. As long as Sun Lin doesn't show up, the people at the Industry and Commerce Bureau won't dare arbitrarily change the legal representative, no matter how bold they are. Once something like that is exposed, it becomes a major scandal—unless they all want to lose their jobs!"

"Mm, that makes sense. Go on!" Tian Long nodded, signaling Shen Miaotu to continue. Shen Miaotu's analysis was really quite sound.

continue. Shen Miaotu's analysis was really quite sound.

"So although your social standing is high, Brother Long—if you'll pardon my saying so—Sun Lin's standing is higher still. Who would dare offend him lightly? Since you've already used your connections and approached so many people without success, do you really expect those license-agency companies to help?" Shen Miaotu waved a hand. "I say hiring them would be a waste of effort."

As a matter of fact, how could Tian Long not have known what Shen Miaotu was saying? But at this point he was treating a dead horse as if it were alive—with no other options, this was all Tian Long could do.

"Then do you have any other good ideas?" Tian Long asked. "What do you mean by following the proper pro-

cedures?"

Shen Miaotu was now simply playing for time. What he said sounded reasonable, but it was all self-evident platitudes—things Tian Long already knew even if he hadn't said them. Yet Tian Long was determined to grasp at any sliver of hope, so naturally he didn't think too much about it and listened patiently to Shen Miaotu.

Shen Miaotu thought to himself, What's so hard about following the proper channels? Isn't it just you and Sun Lin going to the Industry and Commerce Bureau together to change the business license? Even something this simple you don't get?

But though he thought this, he could hardly say it. If he did, Tian Long would surely explode on the spot!

"Brother Long, I think you still have to work on Sun Lin himself!" With no way out, Shen Miaotu steeled himself and kept spouting nonsense. "Think of some way, some method, to persuade Sun Lin to go with you to the Industry and Commerce Bureau to change the legal representative. But at the same time you have to guard against him taking the chance to flee, or simply exposing your scheme right there in the bureau. You must know that Sun Lin's social influence is greater than yours—if that happens, you'll be the one at a disadvantage."

"What you've said is the only workable approach!" Tian Long nodded. "But how do we make Sun Lin obediently comply?"
