Chapter 144 — A Car Crash

Years of Heartflutter Page 2 of 2

The truck driver behind them jumped down from his cab, caught sight of Yang Ce and Lin Yanhe standing off to the side, and hurried over. "Brother, sister, you two sure have luck on your side—and quick reflexes. This truck of mine, I just couldn't get the brakes to catch."

"Call the police, quick—don't let any more vehicles come through from behind." The truck driver behind Yang Minlan gave the order. Though presumably the cars up ahead had already called it in, traffic police and highway administration were two separate departments, and it would take them a while to respond.

As soon as Yang Yanzhou finished, he pulled out his phone and called Bao Lin.

"Have you set out yet?" Yang Ce asked urgently.

"We got stopped at the highway entrance. Too foggy—they won't let anyone through," Bao Lin answered. "I was just about to call you, Brother Yang. Are you all right?"

"I'm fine. You all just wait for now," Yang Yanzhou said. "Something's come up on my end, so I'll hang up."

After ending the call, Yang Ce finally relaxed. It seemed the highway entrance had already responded and was keeping the vehicles behind from coming through.

But before Yang Ce could put his phone away, another thunderous crash rang out—another vehicle had rear-ended the heavy truck.

"Quick, go tell the drivers in the cars behind to get out!" Yang Ce shouted instinctively at the truck driver.

"Oh—right away!" The truck driver rushed off.

"Yang Ce, I'm a little cold," Lin Yanhe said, her sobs quieter now, as she burrowed closer into Yang Juehuan's arms.

"Then let's find somewhere to rest," Yang Ce said, sizing up the crash scene—it wouldn't be cleared up anytime soon. "This is the city entrance. There should be a rest area up ahead."

To be continued.
