Chapter 4712 — The Primeval Battlefield

The Blossom Guardian · Page 1 of 2

He had known before that the Blood Moon was an ill omen, and Wei Zhao had not taken it to heart; but now, seeing it again within the memory fragment—especially after discovering that the blood-red mist shrouding the Heavenly Dao Mountain was identical to the sky above—the feeling suddenly turned rather subtle.

Somewhere in the dark, instinct told Wei Zhao that this might be an omen, an omen most extraordinary.

The perspective returned to the ground, and once he made out the scene atop the Heavenly Dao Mountain at that moment, Wei Zhao's eyelids began twitching violently again. Apart from an empty space left in the very center, the surroundings were densely packed with a host of beings—human cultivators, masters of the spirit beast clan, and even the shadows of top-tier sea beasts. Any one of them was an awe-inspiring, heaven-toppling figure, and among them was the giant electric eel!

Yet for some unknown reason, among these mighty ones, the giant electric eel seemed a very insignificant existence.

These terrifying beings faced one another from afar, forming a circle, each wary and on guard against the others, every one of them staring tensely at the open ground at the center, not knowing what they were waiting for.

The memory fragment was not complete. How long things went on like this, he could not tell, and then the image suddenly flickered. When it sharpened once more, before his eyes lay a ghastly, horrifying scene of hell!

Everywhere were mountains of corpses and seas of blood; heaven and earth alike were locked in savage slaughter—humans against humans, humans against spirit beasts, spirit beasts against sea beasts, sea beasts against sea beasts… a peerless, top-tier melee.

There was no telling foe from friend. Perhaps one moment they fought shoulder to shoulder, and the next they struck a killing blow from behind. Every being slaughtered like a madman, fighting to the death without end.

This dreadful melee—no one knew where it began, nor where it would end. From the images at the start, Wei Zhao could vaguely guess that they were contending for something; and whatever could drive so many heaven-toppling beings to madness was surely no mortal thing.

But what that thing actually was remained unknown. The open ground at the center was already unrecognizable, a scene of utter devastation; what had appeared there, or whether nothing had appeared there at all, none of it could be known. Had the memory fragment been whole, it should have been plainly visible—alas, it was incomplete.

Melee—kill or be killed. Watching one heaven-toppling figure after another fall in succession, Wei Zhao could not help swallowing hard; the apocalyptic spectacle had utterly stunned him.

Before this, the highest-level battle Wei Zhao had ever witnessed was the epochal clash between the Five-Venom Flood Dragon and the giant electric eel beneath the sea. Both were super-beings at least above the Sea-Rending Stage, and in anyone's eyes that had been a battle at the very peak—yet compared with the scene in his mind now, it was utterly dwarfed.

And amid the whole top-tier melee, Wei Zhao's focus drifted of its own accord to the giant electric eel; somewhere in the dark, an inexplicable bond seemed to tie them together.

Its vast body kept tracing arcs of deep purple lightning as the giant electric eel prowled and glided through the chaotic battlefield. Once it fixed on a target, an arc of lightning followed at once—and basically whether human, spirit beast, or sea beast, any struck even once by that deep purple arc dropped dead on the spot without suspense. In the end there was only ever one fate: swallowed whole by the giant electric eel.
