"That definitely won't do. Even the Overseas Cultivators Association can't do anything about Wei Zhao. If we go after him, we'd just be courting death. With Dafeng's ability, picking a fight with Wei Zhao would be suicide." The general manager waved his hand as he spoke.
"Then what about this matter... are we just going to let it go?" Fanny had been made a fool of, and she was understandably unwilling to accept it.
"For now, we'll let it go." The general manager shook his head. "Our current business is only drug trafficking, and we're weaker than the Fire Wolf Gang. We'd better report the matter to our superiors truthfully and let the boss behind the scenes decide what to do."
"Ah... you mean Miss Lan?" Fanny was startled, and her expression shifted slightly.
The general manager nodded slowly. Some matters had already exceeded the scope of what he could decide, so naturally he would not force his way to the front.
Fanny was quite sensible. She knew that when the general manager called Miss Lan, it was best for her to avoid the area. That was one of Red Conch's rules.
Once Fanny had left, the general manager dialed Miss Lan's number.
"What is it?" Miss Lan answered the call almost immediately.
"It is like this..." The general manager truthfully reported everything concerning Wei Zhao and He Dantou to Miss Lan.
"Wei Zhao? I understand." Miss Lan frowned. Wei Zhao again. That man really did know how to stir up trouble! But Miss Lan's thoughts were not focused on Wei Zhao at present. In truth, as far as she was concerned, whether it was the Fire Wolf Gang or Red Conch, they were merely incidental by-products. Her ultimate purpose was to find someone, and that was what mattered most.
Hearing that Miss Lan had offered neither an opinion nor an answer regarding the matter, the general manager did not dare ask anything further. After hanging up, he dialed He Dantou's number once again.
"President He, I am sorry. I have looked into it, and this matter was indeed Wei Zhao's doing. Therefore, my previous promise still stands. I will have someone deliver the drugs to you," the general manager said.
In truth, the general manager already felt that providing one shipment of drugs was a considerable loss. But since He Dantou had not made the matter clear, he simply pretended not to know.
"Oh? Very well, then. Thank you!" Both men were harboring their own schemes. Each believed that Wei Zhao had acted against him personally, so neither pressed the matter. Both thought they had come out ahead.
It was not that either of them did not want revenge against Wei Zhao. They simply had no opportunity for the time being. Miss Lan, the power behind the general manager, had made no comment, while He Dantou was now gravely wounded. If he wanted revenge, he could only wait for the right moment.
As for Wei Zhao, after refining the essence necklace, he waited for Yang Qiqi to bring him the Minor Qi Gathering Pills. Yang Qiqi did not go to the Overseas Cultivators Association immediately. Instead, she waited for more than half a month before appearing at the Cultivators' Association once again.
This time, Yang Qiqi appeared as an expert at the peak of the late Earth-rank. That astonished both the elders of the Overseas Cultivators Association and President He. They had never realized that Yang Qiqi was a cultivation prodigy!
"Yang Qiqi, you have already reached the peak of the late Earth-rank?" He Dantou stared at Yang Qiqi in shock. He felt rather fortunate that he had not made things difficult for her over Wei Zhao's affair. Otherwise, Yang Qiqi might already have left the Overseas Cultivators Association!
Leaving aside whether Yang Qiqi's background gave her the power to do so, her family was an enormous force overseas. Unlike Tang Yuchi, if Yang Qiqi wanted to leave, President He truly could not treat her the way he had treated Tang Yuchi.
