"Exactly. That is precisely why I am at a loss. If I could find the old bastard, I would go and finish him myself!" Little One said bitterly.
"Set that matter aside for now. Since you are here, there is something I need you to do." Old Ancestor Xuanchen waved his hand. "Go and investigate the Sun family of the mortal realm. Find out which of the Suns knows the oral formula for a healing technique yet has never actually healed anyone."
"Oh? What do you mean?" Little One was taken aback, unable to grasp Old Ancestor Xuanchen's meaning. After all, he normally paid no attention to the affairs of the mortal realm, and he knew next to nothing about the Sun family.
"Kang Jingming, tell Little One about the Sun family of the mortal realm," Old Ancestor Xuanchen instructed.
"Yes, Master!" Kang Jingming nodded, then turned to Little One. "Eldest Senior Brother, the matter of the Sun family of the mortal realm is like this..."
And with that, Kang Jingming recounted to Little One everything about the Sun family of the mortal realm, as well as the treatment of Tagan Long.
"Oh? So you are saying Tagan Long has hope of recovery?" Little One started, then was suddenly overjoyed. It was the only thing worth rejoicing over since Old Six, Old Seven, and Old Twelve had fallen.
"There is that possibility!" Kang Jingming nodded. "That said, I do not know much about the Sun family of the mortal realm either. You know as well as I do that our Kang family was not even an ordinary clan in the past—secrets of this sort were beyond our reach."
In plain terms, Kang Jingming's family was simply too lowly and the Five Luminaries Sect too lofty, so neither of them knew anything about the Sun family of the mortal realm.
"Understood. I will begin the investigation at once!" Little One nodded hurriedly and agreed. "Master, then what about the matter of Old Six, Old Seven, and Old Twelve..."
"Leave that be for now. If there truly exists someone capable of killing them, their trail is not something you could easily uncover..." Old Ancestor Xuanchen muttered to himself, wondering just who on earth could have done it.
Yet on the surface he remained utterly composed, as though the matter were beneath mention. He waved his hand. "I will look into that myself."
"Yes, Master. Then I shall take my leave!" Little One answered hurriedly, cupped his fists in salute, and departed.
Only after Little One had gone did Old Ancestor Xuanchen heave a sigh. It suddenly struck him that not everything was within his control—the unforeseen upheavals that had arisen today were still beyond his power to resolve.

At the gate of Wei Zhao's villa in Donghai City, a dust-streaked Range Rover suddenly pulled up. From it stepped a dashing youth—though the youth was rather flashy, dressed head to toe in brilliant red so vivid it would have made him the center of attention in any public place.
In this villa district, however, hardly anyone ever passed by, so his attire drew no notice.
The youth climbed out of the car holding a map, comparing it carefully for a good while. Only after confirming the address was correct did he press the doorbell.
It was the weekend, and Wei Zhao was not home, so Gu Mengyao and Shen Yushu had not gone out either; they were waiting quietly at home for Wei Zhao's return. When the doorbell rang at this hour, the two of them were rather surprised.
"Xiaoshu, go and see who it is. I will hang up the laundry in the washing machine and be right there!" Gu Mengyao was doing the washing, so she called out to Shen Yushu, who was watering the flowers.
"Okay." Shen Yushu carried the watering can out of the villa into the courtyard. Seeing a youth dressed all in fiery red standing outside, she asked curiously, "Who are you? Who are you here to see?"
Shen Yushu did not recognize the person before her, and she was certain Wei Zhao had no such friend.
