Chapter 2668 — I Do Not Mind

The Blossom Guardian · Page 1 of 2

Yet Wei Zhao's behavior made Yu Xiaoke frown. She thought to herself, was Wei Zhao really so utterly without a sense of propriety as to sit on a young woman's bed? Did he not know what it meant to keep one's distance?

"This is the check for this round of school donations. Since I was coming anyway, I brought it straight over." Wei Zhao handed a check to Yu Xiaoke and then said, "You can just take it to the bank and transfer it."

"Thank you..." Wei Zhao had come to deliver a check, so Yu Xiaoke could hardly say much else. She had no choice but to take the check, turning a blind eye to his sitting on her bed. Her brother would soon be laying everything out plainly to him anyway; another moment or two hardly mattered.

"Ha ha, I came only to bring you the check. Since there's nothing else, I'll be on my way. Yu Dake, are you coming back with me, or staying here?" Wei Zhao asked.

"I'll go back with you." For one thing, Yu Dake had a task from Yu Xiaoke; for another, as a retainer of the Hidden Right Clan, it would not do for him to be away too long.

"Good, then let's go. Xiaoke, call me anytime if anything comes up." Wei Zhao bade Yu Xiaoke farewell.

"All right." Since matters were about to be settled, Yu Xiaoke was not as cold to Wei Zhao this time, and for the first time in memory, she waved him off.

Wei Zhao, knowing nothing of the reason, assumed that Yu Xiaoke's monthly troubles had passed and she was back to her normal self.

He went downstairs with Yu Dake and got into the car. Wei Zhao asked, "Well? Did Xiaoke believe your story about who you are?"

"Yes, she believed it." Yu Dake nodded, then cupped his hands in solemn salute. "For this matter, I thank you, Mr. Lin. Had it not been for you, my sister and I would not merely have failed to meet—we would long since have been parted by death!"

"Ha ha, that's putting it a bit strongly. I need to go pick up some clothes for Yaoyao and the others. Will you come with me, or...?" Wei Zhao asked.

"I'll come along," Yu Dake said. "As it happens, there's something I'd like to discuss with you, Mr. Lin."

"Fine, go ahead." Wei Zhao started the car and headed in the direction of the Seaview Bay villa district.

"Mr. Lin, you saved my life, you brought me and my sister together, and you have gone to such lengths for my sister's orphanage. My sister and I will keep all these kindnesses engraved on our hearts. One day, be it as beasts of burden or as attendants at your side, we will surely repay you!" Yu Dake said with great solemnity.

"There's no need for that. I've told you, it was a matter of lifting a finger, and as for Yu Xiaoke's orphanage, that is entirely a private matter between her and me, having nothing to do with you. You needn't take it so much to heart..." Wei Zhao said indifferently.

But Wei Zhao's words made Yu Dake's expression change at once! Sure enough, Wei Zhao was fond of Yu Xiaoke—otherwise he could not have spoken of a private matter. It seemed Yu Xiaoke's guess had been right after all! At this thought, Yu Dake could not help but sigh. Yet however hard it was, he had to speak. Otherwise he would fail the trust Yu Xiaoke had placed in him.

With that in mind, Yu Dake steeled himself and said, "Mr. Lin, do you like my sister?"

"Hm?" Wei Zhao was slightly taken aback, unsure how to answer. If it had been before, he truly had not liked Yu Xiaoke—at most he felt some goodwill toward her. But after that time she had prepared to storm the execution ground, Wei Zhao had begun to develop feelings for her; and then, in the **market, Wei Zhao's heart had truly come to hold Yu Xiaoke. So to say he did not like her would be a joke—but to say he did, which identity of his was it that liked her?
