Chapter 2526 — There's No Illness After All

The Blossom Guardian · Page 1 of 2

"All right, Xiaoshu, enough pretending. Isn't Wang Xinyan sick?" Gu Mengyao said, caught between laughter and tears. "Besides, weren't you the one who told her to be Wei Zhao's first wife?"

"Heh heh, I was just saying that offhand." Shen Yushu giggled, then lowered her voice to Gu Mengyao. "Yaoyao, I was fighting for your interests! Don't tell me you're never going to do anything with Arrow Brand Bro from now on? I'm helping you establish your presence!"

"Enough, stop saying all this nonsense..." Gu Mengyao's face flushed, and she coughed. "Let's hurry and find Wang Xinyan. It won't do if she gets impatient waiting."

Shen Yushu and Gu Mengyao whispered back and forth as they left the villa. Though they kept their voices low, Wei Zhao still heard every word, and could not help smiling bitterly. The relationship between himself, Gu Mengyao, and Xiaoshu really did seem rather odd.

In truth, it was not that Wei Zhao disliked the young lady. It was just that her feelings were so elusive—sometimes warm, sometimes cold. When Wei Zhao went around flirting with others, she grew unhappy; when he tried to take a step closer to her, she pulled back. Afraid of frightening her, Wei Zhao could only let things take their course.

Besides, he was her follower. Stealing the young lady—however one put it, it was a bit unseemly, and if word got out it would damage his reputation. Though Wei Zhao was no longer Gu Mengyao's close guard, such things were, after all, a taboo in the profession.

Soon enough, Gu Mengyao and Shen Yushu returned, bringing Wang Xinyan back with them. Wang Xinyan had carefully combed her hair and washed her face, but Wei Zhao saw at a glance the haggardness about her.

"Oh, Arrow Brand Bro, I've brought Sister Xinyan here. What comes next—pushing her down, treating her illness, or cultivating—that's for you to decide. Yaoyao and I are going to watch TV!" Shen Yushu said, pushing Wang Xinyan before Wei Zhao.

"Heh... Xinyan, where are you feeling unwell?" Wei Zhao hesitated a moment. "Why don't we go to my room?"

"Mm..." Wang Xinyan hummed in a voice barely audible, and followed Wei Zhao into his room. In truth, she had anticipated this before coming. She was here now—even if Wei Zhao helped treat her illness, could he really pass up the chance to cultivate?

Of course, Wang Xinyan thought of Wei Zhao as rather upright—that he had called her here merely for cultivation, with no sordid intentions.

Taking things as they came, Wang Xinyan let down her guard. Once inside Wei Zhao's room, she casually stripped off her jacket and flopped down on his bed.

Wei Zhao was in no hurry to cultivate. Instead, he first pressed his fingers to Wang Xinyan's wrist and began examining her condition. But moments later, his brows knitted together. Her illness should not be a cold—there were no signs of one.

"Xinyan, besides the dizziness, do you have any other symptoms?" Wei Zhao asked.

"No... Why? Is something wrong with my body?" Wang Xinyan was slightly startled by his words and asked hurriedly.

"No, nothing like that." Wei Zhao shook his head. "You don't have a cold, but there's nothing seriously wrong with your body either—you're just a little weak. You said before that you've had a frail constitution since childhood. That's likely the cause."

"Oh... so that's it. As long as I'm not sick, that's good." Wang Xinyan breathed a sigh of relief and nodded.

"You're not sick, but your body is a bit too weak," Wei Zhao said. "How about this—I'll prepare a prescription for you, and after you take it for a few days, it should ease."

"Mm... all right." Wang Xinyan did not refuse Wei Zhao's words in the slightest. Whatever he said, she would simply do.

"Then rest well for now. I'm stepping out for a bit." With that, Wei Zhao rose and quickly left the room.

Gu Mengyao and Shen Yushu were watching TV in the living room when they saw Wei Zhao emerge from the room again, and both looked puzzled.
