Chapter 1727 — An Invitation to Dinner

The Blossom Guardian · Page 1 of 2

Just then Wei Zhao came upstairs too. He had barely run into the bathroom to see how Shen Yushu was doing when a pale, naked body came dashing out at him head-on, and Wei Zhao — an early-stage Earth-rank expert, no less — very carelessly collided with it and caught it full in his arms!

How soft! That was Wei Zhao's first impression.

Wei Zhao turned his head and saw Tang Zhi looking at him with a half-smile. He froze for a moment, then awkwardly released Xiaoshu and said, "Huh? Xiaoshu, you're better already?"

"Divine Doctor Lin, with skills like yours, you still couldn't tell that Xiaoshu's complexion has returned to normal? An Earth-rank expert, and you couldn't dodge that — what would you do if it had been an enemy?" Tang Zhi was a little jealous. Under other circumstances she might have let it slide, but Wei Zhao taking liberties with Xiaoshu right in front of her left a bad taste in her heart.

"Uh..." Wei Zhao hadn't expected his unconscious reaction to be caught red-handed by Tang Zhi! Truthfully, he hadn't been thinking that far; he had simply been caught off guard for a moment and made a small mistake, only to be caught squarely by Tang Zhi, which left him thoroughly embarrassed. "I was too anxious — I wasn't paying attention for a moment..."

Gu Mengyao understood perfectly well too, and covered her mouth to stifle a laugh. So Tang Zhi really did have a bit of a temper after all! It had been hard on her all this time, enduring both herself and Xiaoshu, and today it had finally erupted at Wei Zhao's misdeed.

"All right, it's nothing anymore." Tang Zhi had only made her point and stopped there. If she had pressed the matter and refused to let go, it would not only have embarrassed Wei Zhao but also made Gu Mengyao look down on her, so Tang Zhi merely gave Wei Zhao a warning.

Xiaoshu ran off to the bedroom to wipe herself down, while Wei Zhao gave a dry laugh and said, "How... how did she get better?"

"I'm not entirely sure either. Xiaoshu said it was her *** illness acting up, and that she suddenly remembered there was a special remedy. She had me fetch it for her, and once she took it she was fine!" Gu Mengyao explained.

"A special remedy? What kind of remedy?" Wei Zhao asked.

"This one..." Gu Mengyao handed the little bottle in her hand to Wei Zhao.

"Is there any left inside? Hmm... none?" Wei Zhao examined the bottle in his hand. The craftsmanship was exceedingly fine, but the inside was completely empty — not a single pill remained.

"No, there was only one pill," Gu Mengyao said.

"I see..." Wei Zhao held the mouth of the bottle under his nose and sniffed. He detected nothing unusual — only the smell of a sugar coating. It seemed the pill had been coated in sugar, so nothing out of the ordinary could be discovered from the bottle.

"Right, we'll have to ask Xiaoshu later. We're just as puzzled as you are," Gu Mengyao said with a shrug.

When Shen Yushu came out of the bedroom again, she had put her pajamas back on, and her complexion had returned to normal.

"Xiaoshu, you're really all right now?" Gu Mengyao asked, still shaken.

"I'm fine, nothing's wrong anymore." Shen Yushu shook her head and laughed. "Hehe, sorry for worrying you all..."

"Xiaoshu, what exactly happened? Yaoyao said this was your *** illness?" Wei Zhao studied Xiaoshu's color — she did indeed look fully recovered, a completely different person from before.

"Yes, it's the *** illness. It acted up when I was little too, but once I grew up it never happened again." Shen Yushu nodded. "I'd almost forgotten — there was still one special pill, brought over from home. I never expected it would take all these years before I finally used it..."

"A special remedy? Did you see a doctor for it when you were little?" Wei Zhao asked, turning the little bottle over in his hand.

"Mm, I did, and there was nothing to worry about..." Shen Yushu said carelessly. "The doctor said that after taking this pill, it would hold me for a long time..."
