Chapter 1726 — Xiaoshu Is Sick (Part Three)

The Blossom Guardian · Page 1 of 2

Wei Zhao floored the accelerator and raced all the way back to the villa. He let himself in through the front door, and found Gu Mengyao and Tang Zhi standing at the bathroom doorway, each armed with a water gun, spraying Shen Yushu down to bring her temperature back to normal.

Running water at least helped somewhat. Though it boiled the instant it touched her, it still carried away the greater part of the heat radiating off Shen Yushu's body.

Wei Zhao hurried upstairs. Hearing the rush of water from the bathroom, he slowed his steps and asked from the doorway, "Can I... come in?"

"Wei Zhao, you're back!" Tang Zhi shoved the bathroom door open at once. "Come quick and look at Xiaoshu — she can't take much more..."

Wei Zhao took in the scene inside the bathroom and was startled on the spot. Tang Zhi and Gu Mengyao were both spraying water over Xiaoshu, but the moment it landed on her skin it seemed to boil instantly, hissing and giving off steam.

It was like sitting in a sauna — except that the steam was being produced by Xiaoshu herself.

"What happened to her?" When Wei Zhao had brought Xiaoshu home earlier, she had shown no sign of anything wrong. Yet he had only been gone a short while, and now she had turned like this? He no longer had any thought to spare for admiring her figure, for her whole body had gone crimson red.

"We have no idea either. Earlier she was telling us about your trip to the Shi family gathering, then she said she was hot and took off her clothes, and after that she got hotter and hotter..." Gu Mengyao quickly ran through what had happened.

"Let me have a look!" Wei Zhao walked through the jets of water to Xiaoshu's side and had just laid a hand on her wrist to feel her pulse when he instinctively jerked his hand back, the heat making him clench his teeth.

He glanced at his hand — it was covered in blisters from the burn! The temperature had to be at least a hundred degrees Celsius, yet what puzzled Wei Zhao was that Xiaoshu herself seemed entirely unharmed. Though her skin was bright red, nothing serious seemed to have been scorched.

Any ordinary person would have burned to death long ago. Wei Zhao circulated the Xuanyuan Dragon Taming Art, rapidly healing his burned hand, then shielded it with true qi and reached out once more to feel Xiaoshu's pulse...

"Arrow-brand Bro... I'm so hot... carry me to the Ice Palace to keep Xiaoxiao company, I'm going to die of heat..." Shen Yushu panted.

Wei Zhao did not answer; instead his brows drew deeply together. Within Shen Yushu's body he could find nothing wrong at all — she was completely normal, save for what seemed to be an inexplicable fire burning inside her.

"You couldn't find anything wrong? So Xiaoshu doesn't seem to be sick?" Wei Zhao shook his head. "What's going on? It seems a bit like how Xiaoxiao was at first. Xiaoxiao had an incomparable cold yin inside her, and you have an incomparable fire — yet neither of you shows any other symptoms?"

"Xiaoshu isn't sick?" Gu Mengyao was startled too. "Then what's wrong with her..."

"You two keep at it for now. I'm going to call the old man at home and ask whether he's ever seen anything strange like this!" With no other option, Wei Zhao had to turn to Old Man Wei.

Wei Zhao quickly stepped out of the bathroom — inside, the heat had been quite enough for him too, and he was soaked from head to toe as though he had just come out of a sauna.

He took out his phone, meaning to call Old Man Wei, only to find it waterlogged and completely useless. He hurried downstairs and dialed Old Man Wei's number from the landline in the living room.

"Xiaoyi, calling me again so soon?" Old Man Wei picked up, somewhat surprised. Wei Zhao had called him not long ago about the orphanage, and now here came a second call so soon after.

"Old man, let me ask you something... if someone's whole body is burning hot, but on examination there's no other illness to be found, what would that be?" Wei Zhao asked urgently.
