Chapter 1189 — Er Gou Dan and Shen Yushu

The Blossom Guardian · Page 2 of 2

When Er Gou Dan was very small, Dog Egg's father had often told him that a farmer must not take too pretty a wife, for he would not be able to keep her! Er Gou Dan also knew his own measure: though he had some strength in his hands, he was neither handsome and dashing nor wise and brave in equal measure, so to have won Yu Yuanyuan was a blessing from eight lifetimes. A girl too beautiful — that he dared not even dream of!

It was only that Er Gou Dan was somewhat puzzled. Was it not said that this household's master was an evil man? How could such pretty young girls be evil? As for Gou Huli, she did look very much the shrew, tart and cutting; but these two girls before him were lovely and pretty beyond words, and no matter how he looked at them, they did not seem like evil people.

Looking at the lock on the courtyard gate, Er Gou Dan raised his hand and knocked. Toward these two beautiful girls, he truly could not bring himself to be ruthless. Though he knew that pretty girls did not necessarily have kind hearts — take Yu Xiaoke, whom he had met at the train station; was she not a female swindler? — still, Er Gou Dan thought he would be courteous first and forceful later, and hoped these two girls would listen to reason.

"Who are you looking for?" Shen Yushu was training the lion to guard the courtyard when she suddenly heard a knock at the gate outside the villa. Turning her head, she saw a plainly dressed youth standing outside the gate, and was slightly taken aback. She asked.

"I have come for this lion! It bit my friend's mother, and I have come to demand an explanation. Hand this lion over to me for disposal, and the matter is settled!" Er Gou Dan did not strike out at once; after all, he knew the affair was rather complicated. The lion had run here, but the bite had happened at the Xiao family villa, and had little to do with these two girls. So Er Gou Dan bore them no grudge; he only wanted the lion, to have justice.

"The lion? It bit your friend's mother? That is impossible. Ever since this lion came to our home, it has never been out of doors — how could it have gone and bitten your friend's mother? Are you sure you have not got it wrong?" Hearing Er Gou Dan's words, Shen Yushu was baffled, unable to make sense of it.

"This lion belongs to Gou Huli, does it not? My friend's mother works as a cleaner at Gou Huli's house, and was bitten by this lion, so I have come to demand an explanation." Er Gou Dan explained.

"Damn! If it bit her at Gou Huli's place, then go to Gou Huli and demand your explanation. Why come looking for the lion? Why wrangle with a beast? If it were not for that wicked master, this lion would never have bitten your friend's mother!" Seeing how foolish Er Gou Dan was, Shen Yushu was unwilling to waste words on him and waved her hand dismissively.

"She has already apologized, and given compensation; now only this lion remains. Hand it to me, and let me kill it with a single punch!" Er Gou Dan was somewhat simple-minded. Though he felt Shen Yushu's words were not wrong, it was the lion, after all, that had committed the violence.

"This lion has turned over a new leaf. Besides, once it came to my home, it became my family's lion. How would I know about things from before? Go find that old hag Gou Huli — go kill her with one punch!" Shen Yushu frowned, growing impatient.
