Wei Zhao was startled and quickly reached out to steady Shen Yushu.

"You carry her. Her health isn't as good as mine," Gu Mengyao told Wei Zhao.

"Can you manage?" Wei Zhao saw that Gu Mengyao herself looked unsteady on her feet — after all, who could stand firm after a whole day without food and too much fright?

"Mm..." Gu Mengyao nodded. Though she too could barely stand steady, she was still a little better off than Shen Yushu.

"Ha, then let's go together." Wei Zhao scooped Shen Yushu up in both arms, then spoke to Gu Mengyao.

"Together?" Gu Mengyao's eyes went wide.

But Wei Zhao had already crouched down, and while holding Shen Yushu, he stretched out both arms: "You get on too."

"You... can you manage?" Gu Mengyao looked at Wei Zhao in disbelief. Ordinarily, carrying one person down the mountain would already be impressive — the mountain path was hardly easy to walk. And Wei Zhao actually wanted to carry two? That was just too formidable, wasn't it?

"I can kick open a security door, so can I manage or not?" Wei Zhao very much wanted to say that telling a man he couldn't manage was a provocation — a very dangerous thing to do — but he supposed Gu Mengyao hadn't meant it that way.

Gu Mengyao really was exhausted. After a moment's hesitation, she thought of how Wei Zhao had kicked open even a security door — his strength really was considerable — and so she let herself fall back into Wei Zhao's arm.

Wei Zhao carried the two young ladies out of the cave, and only then remembered that in his haste he had not sent Gu Pengzhan word that they were safe. But now both arms were occupied, so obviously he could not make a phone call either.

However, on the way down the mountain, at the entrance of the resort, he caught sight of Gu Pengzhan and Qing Bo. The two had just come out of the resort and clearly had found nothing; then they looked up and saw Wei Zhao carrying two people, and were at once astonished and overjoyed.

"Yao Yao, Xiao Shu!" Gu Pengzhan ran over in a few strides, quite shedding the composure a chairman ought to have. At this moment, he was simply a father worried for his daughter's safety.

"They're fine. Probably just too tired — they've fallen asleep," Wei Zhao said with a wry smile. He hadn't expected the two to fall asleep so quickly, but seeing the smiles on their faces, they were clearly sleeping soundly. And in fact that was so: knowing they were rescued, Gu Mengyao and Shen Yushu had instantly shed their earlier worries and wanted only a good rest.

Qing Bo wanted to help Wei Zhao by taking one of them, but feared waking Gu Mengyao and Shen Yushu, so he could only smile apologetically.

Gu Pengzhan, meanwhile, was rubbing his hands in excitement. His daughter was found, and from the look of things she had not been harmed — otherwise she surely could not be sleeping so peacefully at this moment.

When they got into the car at the foot of the mountain, Wei Zhao had to set the two down, and since Gu Mengyao and Shen Yushu had slept quite a while before, they were now only somewhat worn out in body and mind; at this point they woke too, rubbing their eyes blearily.

When Gu Mengyao saw her father, she could not help but throw herself into Gu Pengzhan's arms: "Dad! That bastard Zhong Yongliang locked us up — you have to get revenge for me..."
