Chapter 414 — The Bizarre Analysis Report

The Blossom Guardian · Page 1 of 2

"Bang!" "Bang!" "Bang!" "Bang!" "Bang!"

Qiu Lingshan threw five punches in a row, and only stopped when her own hand was throbbing with pain. She stalked out of the ward in a fury. Her two subordinates immediately sat up ramrod straight; they had heard the commotion inside and knew Qiu Lingshan was angry, so neither dared to risk her temper at a moment like this.

Fatso Lai could hardly believe his own eyes—his old man had actually woken up! Not only woken up, but he could talk, and he wanted something to eat!

"Dad, you're all right? You're better?" Fatso Lai was so overcome with excitement that he nearly fainted. "I'll go get the doctor—wait for me..."

Fatso Lai bolted out of the ward in a couple of strides and started shouting the moment he was through the door: "Doctor? Where's the doctor? Somebody come quick!"

"What is it? What's happened?" The doctor assumed something had gone wrong in the ward and hurried over—but when he entered and saw that Fatso Lai's father had actually woken up, he was stunned.

"Doctor, take a look at my dad right now—is he going to be all right?" The thing Fatso Lai wanted most just then was to run to Wei Zhao and kowtow to him a few times. What a great benefactor!

Only then did the doctor hastily round up a nurse to examine the old man, but the results left him even more astonished: every indicator had clearly improved a great deal from before. The uremia was not fully cured, but it was improving!

"How is that possible? How could this be?" The doctor stared at the report in his hands, dumbfounded. Just yesterday he had told Lai Changtian there was nothing more to be done—and today Old Master Lai had woken up? This defied all common sense... Wait! A thought struck the doctor. Yesterday this Lai Changshan had somehow gotten hold of some kind of Longevity Detox Pill and wanted to give it to Old Master Lai. Could that pill really have worked?

Beyond that, he could think of no other possibility! At the thought, the doctor quickly asked, "Mr. Lai, did you give your father that Longevity Detox Pill?"

"I did! What about it? It worked, didn't it? Ha, I told you it would!" Fatso Lai held the report, grinning so wide he could barely close his mouth. Less than half a Longevity Detox Pill had produced such miraculous results—so if he could get a whole one, wouldn't his father's illness be brought under control on the spot?

Fatso Lai didn't dare hope his father could be completely cured; as long as it was kept under control, that was enough. The old man was getting on in years—every extra year he could live was a year gained. That was Fatso Lai's only wish.

"It really did work..." The doctor wiped the sweat from his forehead. "I've never seen such miraculous results... Mr. Lai, if you'll forgive my bluntness, you should take the old man to find that expert. There's nothing I can do!"

This doctor had taken plenty of red envelopes from the Lai brothers, so he spoke honestly and pointed Fatso Lai down a clear path.

"Ah..." Fatso Lai's face fell at the doctor's words. "Would an expert like that even give me the time of day?"

The doctor shook his head. He had to admit the man had a point—if this really was an expert, he surely wouldn't pay much attention to the likes of Fatso Lai, a great bawling crybaby who burst into tears at the slightest thing. A grown man like that—wasn't he ashamed?

"Then let him stay in the hospital and be looked after for now. I'll do everything I can, at any rate," the doctor said.

"Oh, right—this matter, you have to keep it secret for me. Don't tell anyone, absolutely no one!" Something seemed to occur to Fatso Lai, and he hurriedly instructed the doctor.

"Don't worry, I won't go blabbing!" The doctor nodded, thinking to himself: Am I an idiot? Go out and tell people? That would only offend you and do me no good besides! If I keep my mouth shut, the world outside will assume I'm the one who cured Old Master Lai—and my reputation will rise accordingly.
