"Heh... so do you hope I got taken down a peg or not?" Wei Zhao asked with a smile.
"I..." Gu Mengyao wanted to say that of course she did, because that was exactly what she had been thinking earlier. The very reason she had agreed to let Wei Zhao go to dinner with An Liwen was to borrow An Liwen's hand to teach Wei Zhao a lesson—who told him to try peeking at the wish slips she and Shen Yushu had written today?
But now that her anger had passed, Gu Mengyao found she was no longer quite so willing for Wei Zhao to come off the worse... She would much rather see how Wei Zhao went about putting An Liwen in his place.
"You came back in one piece, and one look tells me nothing happened to you. What does it matter whether I hoped for it or not?" Gu Mengyao said flatly.
"Heh..." Wei Zhao had long since grown used to the young lady's cold exterior and warm interior. He smiled and said nothing more. "Here, watch the video. I'm going to take a shower first—I'm reeking of alcohol."
"You filmed another video? Oh, wonderful, I thought there wouldn't be one this time!" Shen Yushu excitedly took Wei Zhao's phone and pulled up the video file to play...
Though Gu Mengyao said aloud that she wasn't interested, when Shen Yushu started the playback she still leaned her head in close.
Wei Zhao went back to his room to shower, while Gu Mengyao and Shen Yushu curled up on the living room sofa watching the video. Seeing Wei Zhao down drinks in a contest with four men at once, Shen Yushu cried out in surprise, "Wow, Yao Yao, Arrow Brand Bro is amazing—he can actually hold his liquor that well?"
"What's so good about drinking?" Gu Mengyao curled her lip. "If Daddy hadn't been busy with business dinners every single night back then, would Mommy have run away from home?"
"You can't put it that way, hee hee. I think the way Arrow Brand Bro drinks is so cool!" Shen Yushu begged to differ.
"Xiao Shu, how can you be such a lovesick fool!" Gu Mengyao scolded her.
"I'm not, I was just saying whatever came to mind... ha, just saying whatever!" Shen Yushu shook her head, a faint blush coloring her cheeks.
Though Gu Mengyao rarely cracked a smile, seeing Wei Zhao handle An Liwen, Su Taizao, and Yang Ganglou like that had her in stitches—especially when Su Taizao spat blood. That dramatic scene was like a shot straight out of a comedy film: not frightening in the least, but positively hilarious!
"Yao Yao, I remember in Flirting Scholar there seems to be someone who spits blood like that, right?" Shen Yushu thought for a moment and said.
"I think there is! A legal advisor or something? This Yang Ganglou is a legal advisor too, and Wei Zhao angered him straight into fainting..." Gu Mengyao had to admit that Wei Zhao's few remarks had been vicious—though only to the parties concerned. Watching the video as a bystander, it was still deeply satisfying.
When they got to the inflatable doll incident later on, Gu Mengyao and Shen Yushu were left utterly speechless. An Liwen and Su Taizao really were too despicable! But Wei Zhao's closing line—telling them to keep it for their own use—left Gu Mengyao feeling especially pleased. So it seemed Wei Zhao wasn't all that lecherous after all; he wouldn't even spare an inflatable doll a second glance...
