Next, Zilan passed on more information about Shi Jin, Donghuang, and Blue Star to the Void Emperor.
But in the end, the Void Emperor was, as expected, drawn only to the Shishuo and pressed for more.
"His contracted beasts are actually all so fascinating—truly worthy of an archaeology prodigy."
"Although this time we and the Qilin clan each lost a prodigy, who would have thought this Shi Jin would actually recover the heritage of the Wind Qilin lineage. With this, the Qilin clan may well be in for a pleasant surprise," said the Void Emperor.
In Blue Star's mythological age, several branches of the Qilin clan had been wiped out—the Wind Qilin foremost among them. By the time the war ended, the entire Qilin clan was left with only a scattering of a few Qilin Gods who still possessed formidable power.
Given the difficulty of reproduction at the divine tier and the state of Blue Star at the time, this was essentially no different from the clan having been exterminated.
At that time, some descendants of divine beasts left Blue Star and some stayed. The Dragon, Phoenix, Angel, and Demon clans all left descendants behind—only the Qilin clan did not. From this alone one could see how grievous the Qilin clan's losses had been.
Later, however, the handful of Qilin Gods entered the Cosmic Sea and had a stroke of good fortune: on high-tier planets, reproduction was easier, and bearing offspring at the divine tier was no great hardship. In the end they successfully spread their branches and flourished once more, and the clan was not wholly exterminated.
Alas, the good times did not last.
The Qilin Ancestor led a batch of elites straight into the ruins of an epoch and perished there.
This left the Qilin clan the sparsest in membership, the weakest in power, and the most severely crippled in heritage among the five great divine clans.
Had the five great divine clans of Blue Star not always clustered together for warmth, whether the Qilin clan could have endured to this day was another question entirely.
The Qilin clan had at one point suspected that their poor fortune stemmed precisely from the Wind Qilin being targeted first and their luck-bearing heritage being severed—after all, the Wind Qilin lineage had always borne the Qilin clan's fortune. Now that Blue Star still possessed the Wind Qilin heritage, the Qilin clan would surely care a great deal.
"We must protect Shi Jin and not let the Dragon, Phoenix, or Qilin clans snatch him away," said the Void Emperor. "He has no ties to the Demon or Angel clans, does he?"
The Void Emperor had already foreseen it: when the time came, Blue Star's six major factions—the five great divine clans and the human race they represented—would compete madly for Blue Star's prodigies.
Blue Star may have declined, but at its peak it had been a quasi-high-tier planet, and its talents would not be few.
Zilan said, "He seems to have obtained a slumbering divine-tier demon egg, but Blue Star's rules are incomplete, so it likely hasn't hatched yet."
"Is that so." The Void Emperor pondered. In that case, aside from the Angel clan, all four of the other great divine clans could claim some connection to Shi Jin?
Shi Jin had presumably entered the ruins of the Azure Dragon epoch and nurtured an Azure Dragon that mastered a creation divine skill—the Blue Star Dragon clan would certainly take an interest in him as well.
Coercion and inducement—there would surely be no shortage of it.
"No matter. Since he is of the Donghuang human race, when the time comes he will surely choose Suspended Sky Star. What we need to do is provide him with ample cultivation resources once he arrives and train him with care."
"If this Shi Jin is truly as brilliant as you say, perhaps we can rely on him to restore Blue Star—even evolve it—at the fastest speed and the smallest cost," the Void Emperor said with a smile. "If we could take a top ten, or even first place..."
"Have you told him about the God-Sealing War?"
