Chapter 715 — Beiyila's Intelligence

Gao Yang smiled and pointed at his own head: "I know. But that memory is right here, Beiyila. Whether you accept it or not, I have inherited Gao Yang Cecil's memories. I know most of what he experienced, and I know the parts concerning you. Perhaps you still believe I am an outland wanderer who stole a body, but in a sense, I am Gao Yang Cecil now, and in this life, I will live as him."
Beiyila stared at Gao Yang fixedly. Behind her, countless vines and roots trembled or writhed unconsciously and slowly. No one knew what she was thinking in that moment, but Gao Yang seemed to see a faint glimmer flash through her wooden eyes, and then she went on with the subject: "...On Mingcen Peak, the Holy Spirit Senming, High Priest of the Order; the Pope of the Dream Church; and the Pope of the Storm Church performed a joint ritual, successfully transporting Pope Megor III of the Dream Church into the Divine Realm..."
Gao Yang already knew this part. He nodded: "After that, every member of the three great dark cults went mad... What exactly happened at that time?"
Beiyila closed her eyes, her body trembling faintly, as if even now, seven hundred years later, recalling what happened then was still a torment of fear for her. Gao Yang heard her speak in a voice almost like sleep-talking: "Megor III entered the domain of the Divine Realm, where his soul was nearly torn apart entirely, but compared with the truth he witnessed, the tearing of his soul was nothing at all: he saw the Divine Realm and the palaces of the gods, and around those illusory, resplendent halls lay an incomparably vast, chaotic void. Countless shattered ruins and the corpses of gods floated around the Divine Realm, orbiting in dead silence...
"Those shattered ruins and divine corpses seemed to have drifted for a very long time, and they showed clear differences among one another, as though they had not been destroyed all at once but had undergone round after round of rebirth and extinction. When Megor III looked straight upon those ruins and corpses, he was already nearly half mad, but what was even more terrifying was the scene he witnessed afterward:
"He saw the gates of the Divine Realm open, and the figure of a god flash past within... In that exceedingly brief glimpse, the vast knowledge and truth shattered every mental defense of Megor III, and he fell into madness almost immediately.
"The Grand Druid Hierarch and the Storm Pope, who had performed the ritual together, discovered the anomaly in time and tried to pull Megor III back into the real world, but that act connected the spirits of all three together... They shared their perception."
Listening to Beiyila's account of what had happened, Gao Yang kept his calm and composed surface, but within his heart, monstrous waves were already surging.
So the ritual on Mingcen Peak seven hundred years ago—the three church leaders had indeed witnessed the ruins and wreckage left after the fall of the gods, but the specifics were even more bizarre and mad than he had imagined!
Around the Divine Realms of the gods orbited countless ruins and countless corpses, and that was not a scene any single round of destruction could have produced. Gao Yang thought of the ancient war in which the god-slaying fleet had destroyed the gods, but if Beiyila's intelligence was true, then the war reports he had heard from the Eternal Slate were likely only one link in the gods' countless cycles of destruction.
If the ancient god-slaying fleet had destroyed the gods once, then what had caused all the other countless destructions?
Were the repeated cycles of destruction of the gods and their Divine Realms connected to the demon tides of the present world? Were they connected to the repeated falls of human civilization?
