Chapter 290 — Invasion of the Mind Network

This seemed to be merely a table of contents. From the list alone, one could associate all sorts of things, yet not a single piece of valuable content could be analyzed from it. Gaoyang was certainly not about to settle for this—but when he tried to expand these materials further, all he saw was a special prompt:
Project Zero runs in isolated operation; no information about it can be found on the surface-layer consciousness network.
Puzzled, Gao You tried several more keywords and searched through some related materials, and at last confirmed that he could not see the full contents of Project Zero here. Though the Dreamers had no mature concept of information encryption, they had still gone to considerable lengths to protect certain extremely critical matters, and until he understood their encryption rules, Gao Yang did not dare attempt to crack them at random.
He had also more or less figured out one thing: the dream world he saw before him seemed not to be the whole of the "Eternal Dream" created by the Dreamers. If he was not mistaken... this entire space, including the City of the Illusory Pivot, seemed to be merely the "surface-layer consciousness network."
Gao Yang could not help but feel a touch of wonder: this psychic network seemed crude and simple in many places, riddled with holes, yet as a whole it was remarkably advanced and complex. It had used a rather simple and brutal method to realize an inconceivable virtual-reality world... was this also a technical specialty of the magic world?
Setting aside his curiosity about "Project Zero," Gao Yang began browsing all sorts of materials in the psychic network, and gradually confirmed one thing:
This psychic network had not been started up just now. Judging from the logs he could consult, the Dreamers seemed to have restarted this place only a few days after they shut down the virtual world last time. In theory, he could have connected to this network long ago.
It was only that he was not, in the end, a true and complete "Dreamer," and so he had remained unaware that the network had come back online, until today, when a broadcast message aimed at all the middle- and upper-tier nodes was sent out across the Dreamers' network, and he reconnected to this place.
Unable to make sense of that "Project Zero" for the time being, Gao Yang decided to ignore the message about "soliciting computing power" for now, lest he blunder into danger. That message was, after all, merely a voluntary call for contributions; leaving it unanswered should pose no problem.
With Amber watching over him, he need not worry for the moment about anything going wrong in the real world. Gao Yang decided to take advantage of this connection to dig up more useful things from the Dreamers' psychic network.
But before any "useful" information appeared, an amusing piece of intelligence was the first to leap into his mind:
"Known Intelligence Regarding the 'Otherworld Wanderer' (Provisional Codename: Gao Yang Cecil) and Interim Countermeasures."
Gao Yang stared at it, utterly dumbfounded: "What's this?"
This information was posted in the place with the lowest reading clearance in the psychic network; basically any Longdrowse cultist could access it after connecting to the network. Clearly it was meant for everyone in the entire cult to see. Gao Yang, of course, could not restrain his curiosity, and expanded it at the first opportunity, whereupon a line of large text swam into his mind:
"First of all, a warning to all brethren of the church: under no circumstances should you casually make contact with the Otherworld Wanderer. The danger he poses far exceeds that of the Gondor Wasteland!"
Only after this came the main text.
The more Gao Yang read, the more bewildered he became, and he had only one thought in his heart: last time he had merely shown them a mashup video—and it had already evolved into this?
Er... did everyone who worked in programming have such a rich inner theater?
