Chapter 296 — Yang Juehuan's True Assets

Sun Lin asked himself that even if he were richer, he could not say he would just give someone an island as a gift—because in his estimation, in his lifetime he would only be able to afford one or two such islands.
"Uncle Sun, as for the business on this side—I think it's better if you don't manage it anymore." Yang Ce hesitated a moment, then finally spoke the words in his heart. Sun Lin's methods of controlling his subordinates were still lacking, and that was what had led to Tian Long's rebellion. He dealt with his men only through feeling and friendship; while to some extent this could make them willing to risk their lives for him, it could not fully overawe them—Tian Long being the case in point.
In the face of sufficient profit, Tian Long had in the end betrayed Sun Lin too.
"Oh. You've decided to take over?" Sun Lin was briefly taken aback, then asked with a face full of smiles. Having Yang Ce take over had always been Sun Lin's ultimate goal; now that he heard Yang Ce bring it up, he assumed Xiangming had agreed to his proposal.
"Take over?" Now it was Yang Puqi's turn to be stunned, but on second thought he realized Sun Lin had misunderstood. He hurriedly said, "Uncle Sun, you've misunderstood. What I mean is for you to give up the business on this side."
"Give up. What do you mean by that?" Sun Lin did not quite understand Yang Juehuan's words, though he vaguely guessed at something. "Yang Ce, I'm not quite following you."
"Uncle Sun, don't blame me for overstepping. I've already promised Tian Yan that the business over here in Donghai will be handed to him to manage in the future." Yang Juehuan was genuinely a little embarrassed. Although the Sun family's property was nothing much, it wasn't his own after all; acting first and reporting afterward was indeed a bit underhanded.
"What? Hand it to Tian Yan to manage?" Hearing Yang Juehuan's words, Sun Lin stared at Yang Ce blankly. But seeing that Yang Juehuan did not look as though he were joking, he thought he must have misheard.
"Yang Ce, I didn't hear wrong, did I? You're saying you want to hand our Sun family's assets over to Tian Yan to manage."
"I already promised him that earlier." Seeing Sun Lin's expression at that moment, Yang Ce knew he had gone too far—at the very least he should have discussed it with him beforehand.
Sun Lin looked at Yang Puqi in silence. He did not want to speak; his heart was full of bitterness. But after a long while, he finally... let it go. "Forget it. Since we were all rescued by you, whatever you say naturally must be obeyed—otherwise this family business would have fallen into Tian Long's hands anyway. Being free now is already good enough. These matters—you decide."
"Uncle Sun..." The more Sun Lin spoke like this, the more uncomfortable Yang Juehuan felt.
"No need to say more." Sun Lin gave a bitter smile. "This family business was going to be left to you in the end anyway; you've merely dealt with it early, that's all."
"Uncle Sun, listen to me—" Yang Ce wanted to explain, but Sun Lin waved his hand.
"Let me finish." Sun Lin said, "Hear me out, and then make your final decision—it won't be too late. Do you know how much the Sun family's assets are worth now? Nearly two hundred million—a huge sum. And you plan to just give that away?"
"Uncle Sun, there are some things I had planned to discuss with you in detail in a few days, but since we've come this far, I might as well be frank about all of it." Seeing that Sun Lin was fixated on that two hundred million in assets rather than on his having acted on his own, Yang Ce relaxed a little.
