After all, assembly language is an abstruse and difficult programming language, far harder to grasp than C and the like. "Pull up Zhou Yanning's file—I want to look it over." After Li Boliang left, the name "Zhou Yanning" circled in Xiao Qing's mind, and the more she dwelled on it, the more familiar it seemed, as though she had heard it somewhere before.
But these past few days had been so hectic that she simply could not place the name, and yet she could not quite set her mind at ease; something told her the name signified something. So she had Sun Demao bring out Zhou Yanning's student file.
The computer science department naturally had the right to consult the files of all students within it—but only within it. For students of other departments, Xiao Qing plainly had no authority to look.
"Oh?" Sun Demao was slightly taken aback, astonished that Xiao Qing should suddenly take an interest in a student. Just moments ago Li Boliang had come to recommend this Zhou Yanning for the research project, and Sun Demao had been angry at Li Boliang's lack of tact—raising the matter in front of the department's director. If he were to bend the rules and open a back door, it would look bad to be caught doing it by Xiao Qing.
Had Li Boliang come to him privately, Sun Demao might well have worked something out for him. But never had he imagined that Xiao Qing would ask him to pull this student's file.
Still, since Xiao Qing had asked, Sun Demao was duty-bound; he hurriedly logged on to the school's intranet database, entered his username and password, accessed the student records, and easily found the file of Zhou Yanning of the freshman year.
"Director Xiao, this is that student Zhou Yanning's file." Sun Demao gestured at the student record on the computer screen before him.
Zhou Yanning's photo was adorable—a sweet smiling face with two little dimples. Sun Demao marveled inwardly: a pretty girl indeed. No wonder young Li Boliang was so taken with her—clearly he wanted her for a girlfriend! If the chance came, he really ought to help Li Boliang play matchmaker.
A student of Class One, freshman year. Xiao Qing was slightly startled—wasn't that Yang Juehuan's paired class? In truth, a paired class at university was just like any other class, with no distinction at all: they attended lectures and extracurricular activities entirely together, even shared the same set of teachers, sat in the same classrooms day to day, and were no exception even at exam time.
Then, looking again at Zhou Yanning's appearance, Xiao Qing's certainty grew beyond doubt! She finally remembered who this Zhou Yanning was! Last time, when she and Sun Jie had run into Yang Juehuan at the restaurant, Zhou Yanning had been among them.
And Xiao Qing had learned Zhou Yanning's story from Yang Ce. Here was a girl who would risk life and limb for the one she loved, who would even sacrifice herself to take a bullet for Yang Ce—and for that Xiao Qing felt gratitude and admiration from the bottom of her heart! So it was her! And yet this Zhou Yanning was actually interested in the wireless project? That was a novel thing indeed. If Zhou Yanning truly had an interest in this field, it would be a fine opportunity. Though Xiao Qing existed only as Yang Ce's sworn sister, and never presumed to dream that one day she might openly walk beside Yan, she could not help harboring some hope that her place might be acknowledged—if only within a small circle.
To have more contact with Yan's girlfriend's little circle would be a good choice too. If Zhou Yanning truly was interested in computer technology, Xiao Qing was confident that her own knowledge would quickly earn Zhou Yanning's approval. And if that day ever came, and she was welcomed into Yang Juehuan's little circle, then Zhou Yanning would surely support her.
Xiao Qing had never dreamed of waging any harem war or seizing power; to win recognition from the small circle of Yang Ce's women was already her greatest wish.
