Chapter 7 — Our Memorial
Years of Heartflutter · Page 2 of 3
"Uncle Lin, Zhiyun told me you worked as a driver at the factory in your younger days." It was precisely because he'd heard from Lin Yanhe that Lin Changqing could drive that Yang Shuoxuan had kept Hou Lin's car keys.
"Yeah, I did work as a driver. What about it?" Lin Changqing asked.
"Then did you bring your license? If you did, we'll drive back right now," Yang Yanzhou said.
"I did bring my license—coming to Donghai to look for work, I naturally brought all my papers and such." Lin Changqing said, "But where would we get a car?"
"Uncle Lin, Zhiyun and I drove here, but that car only seats two. I just borrowed a Jetta from a friend as well, so if you can drive, we can head back right now," Yang Yanzhou said.
"Well, that's just great!" Lin Changqing stood up happily and said, "What are we waiting for? I'll pack right now—you go get Zhiyun, and we'll be off!"
Yang Ce returned to the room and saw that the program Lin Yanhe had been watching was just ending, so he said, "Zhiyun, pack your things. We're going back to Songjiang now."
"Oh—so soon?" Lin Yanhe was taken aback; she hadn't expected to be leaving already.
"What, do you still want to sleep with me? Not slept enough yet?" Yang Ce teased with a wicked grin.
"You jerk! You know that's not what I meant!" Lin Yanhe flushed and scolded Yang Puqi, then began getting up to pack.
She and Yan hadn't brought much when they came, so she only checked whether things like her phone had been left behind.
After the two of them looked around and found nothing left behind, they went together to Lin Changqing's room to help him pack his luggage.
Lin Changqing didn't have much either—a single suitcase held it all. Yang Ce picked up the suitcase, and the three of them went downstairs together. After checking out, they left the inn.
"Uncle Lin, you just drive this Jetta." Yang Ce put the luggage in the Jetta's trunk, then handed the keys to Lin Changqing.
"Oh? And what about you two?" Lin Changqing took the keys and asked.
"We'll take that car." Yang Ce pointed at the Audi R8 not far away.
Lin Changqing drew a sharp breath. Though he didn't know how much that car was worth, one look told him it couldn't be cheap. Lin Changqing began to worry quietly—Yang Ce seemed to be more than ordinarily wealthy. Could his daughter really be a match for him?
Surely he wasn't just playing around? Though Lin Changqing also thought Yang Juehuan was a decent sort, no one could say such things with absolute certainty, so Lin Changqing resolved that once home, he must remind his daughter to be careful.
Yang Duoran had no idea what Lin Changqing was thinking. He got into the car with Lin Yanhe and started the engine.
As for Tian Dongguang, after returning home he had set people to inquiring about Yang Juehuan. He asked left and asked right, but there was no one in Donghai by the name of Yang Juehuan.
"Damn it, he couldn't have fooled me with a fake certificate, could he? Why can't I find him anywhere?" Tian Dongguang, beside himself with rage, drove his fist into the sandbag. After seeing the Lin father and daughter home, Yang Ce gave Sun Jie a call.
Sun Jie actually hung up on him. It was so late, and it wasn't even a meeting time—why wouldn't Sun Jie answer the phone?
Fortunately, before long Sun Jie called back. "Yang Ce, what is it? I'm out having dinner."
"I'm back in Songjiang. When should I return the car to you?" Yang Ce frowned. Why wouldn't she answer the phone while eating? Still, he couldn't very well press her on it.
"No rush. Tell you what—I'm having dinner at Buyetian right now, and I should be done around nine or so. Come pick me up," Sun Jie said after a moment's thought.
"All right, nine it is, then." Yang Ce relaxed a little at the news that Sun Jie was dining at Buyetian. It had to be that Sun Jie had gotten in touch with Hou Lin through Yang Li, and since Hou Lin was back today too, it made sense that they would all be having a meal together.
