Chapter 461 — The Shark Is Coming
Zhong Yongliang was frantic. The plane's lavatory stood just in front of the first row of seats—was Gao Xiaofu doing this on purpose to ruin his image? If the man had simply gone into the lavatory himself, that would have been one thing, but as it was, Zhong Yongliang was clutching his belly and pacing back and forth, and Gu Mengyao was bound to laugh at him for real this time, wasn't she?
"Pfft—" Zhong Yongliang let out a loud, foul fart and was instantly mortified. His face flushed red, and he stole a glance toward Gu Mengyao.
"Disgusting! Yao-yao, I'm going to faint!" Shen Yushu leapt up at once, waving her hand frantically to fan the air. "Little Liangzi, go find a plug for that thing! Are you trying to suffocate me and Yao-yao with the stench?"
At first only the students in the first few rows had heard Zhong Yongliang's fart, but once Shen Yushu broadcast it, he became the center of attention in the entire cabin.
"..." Zhong Yongliang panicked and wanted to explain, but his backside betrayed him with another uncontrolled "pfft." This time, in his agitation, even the shit burst out—he soiled his pants on the spot.
"Ah—Zhong Yongliang, are you doing this on purpose?" Shen Yushu was about to lose her mind. Pinching her nose, she fled toward the rear cabin; it truly stank too badly!
Gu Mengyao also wrinkled her brow in disgust, unable to fathom what Zhong Yongliang was up to—couldn't he settle down even on a plane? She rose as well and followed Shen Yushu toward the back.
Feng Xiaoxiao was in the middle of eating biscuits when the stench hit her; she spat them all out in disgust and instinctively ran toward the rear as well.
Wei Zhao didn't much care—he had lived in places far more foul than this—but Zhong Yongliang's behavior was indeed a little revolting. Since the young miss had gone, Wei Zhao stood up and followed toward the back too.
At last Gao Xiaofu emerged from the lavatory. Zhong Yongliang, clutching his crotch, dashed inside, and the sound of running water—"swish, swish"—drifted out from the lavatory.
Zhong Yongliang hadn't brought a change of trousers, so he had no choice but to take his pants off inside the lavatory, wash them clean, and put them back on. Even so, he didn't dare show his face outside the lavatory again until the plane had landed.
This outing had been organized and funded by Zhong Yongliang himself, so although everyone found it rather comical that he disembarked wearing a pair of soaking-wet trousers, no one mocked him for it—which gave Zhong Yongliang a measure of comfort.
"Liang-ge, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to..." Gao Xiaofu, seeing that he had botched the whole affair, apologized to Zhong Yongliang with some embarrassment.
"Forget it!" Zhong Yongliang looked at his sole subordinate and couldn't bring himself to say much more. He waved a hand magnanimously. "Just put your back into playing the shark for me in a bit!"
"Don't worry, I've already practiced several times in the bathtub at home—there won't be any problem!" Gao Xiaofu thumped his chest and spoke with full confidence.
Zhong Yongliang nodded. Whether he could salvage his dignity all came down to this one moment! If his glorious image of bravely battling a shark were to be witnessed by everyone, then the earlier pants-soiling incident would count for nothing.
The plane came down on the dedicated water landing strip of the seaside resort's VIP section. Once it had stopped, a speedboat drove up and ferried the students aboard to the beach resort.
Zhong Yongliang had reserved the resort's entire VIP section, so there were no other visitors here.
The seawater was very clear; between the beach and the water lay a shallow zone paved with pebbles and fine sand. Inside were conches, little crabs, and small fish—it seemed the water environment here was quite good.
Wei Zhao did not rush off to change into swim trunks like the other students. Instead he sat down on the beach, quietly watching the little creatures in the water. Clear seawater like this was rare in cities and tourist areas; Wei Zhao felt as though he had returned to his hometown.
When he was little, he and Ergoudan had often played by the sea. Of course, most of the time Wei Zhao had been forced by the old man to practice martial arts in the water, while Ergoudan—Wei Zhao really doubted the makeup of that boy's body; he himself could barely keep his footing in the churning waves, yet the kid stood firm as an iron pagoda.
"Why aren't you going to change into your swimsuit?" Feng Xiaoxiao, seeing that Wei Zhao had plopped down on the sand and was staring blankly into space the moment he arrived, came over in some puzzlement.
"I can't swim, so why would I change?" Wei Zhao said flatly. "Why aren't you going?"
"Because I want to stay by your side, of course!" Feng Xiaoxiao said, as though it were the most natural thing in the world.
Wei Zhao shook his head. His train of thought had been interrupted, so he turned his attention to the girls who had finished changing into their swimsuits. Eighteen-year-old girls—their delicate, graceful figures were already fully developed—and this was a fine opportunity to feast his eyes. What would the young miss and Shen Yushu look like in swimsuits? Compared with Gu Mengyao, Wei Zhao actually looked forward to seeing Shen Yushu in a swimsuit even more... Though he had seen photos of the two in swimwear, they were nothing like the visual impact of the real thing.
To Wei Zhao's disappointment, however, Gu Mengyao and Shen Yushu had not changed into their swimsuits. Instead they set up a beach umbrella by the shore, and the two of them sat beneath it and began pulling snacks out of their schoolbags. So these two girls had come here for a picnic?
Then again, it made sense. Gu Mengyao and Shen Yushu had been to the seaside plenty of times; the hard drive of his own computer was nearly full of photos from their travels, many of them taken at the beach.
"There don't seem to be any sharks here," Shen Yushu said, gazing at the calm water with some disappointment.
"This is a tourist area. Naturally there wouldn't be any sharks," Gu Mengyao said.
"That little Liangzi actually dared to lie to me, saying he'd grill shark meat for me. I'll never believe him again!" Shen Yushu said indignantly.
"Even if there were, would you dare eat shark meat grilled by him?" Gu Mengyao curled her lip.
"Uh—" Shen Yushu thought of Zhong Yongliang soiling his pants on the plane and felt queasy. If Zhong Yongliang really did grill her shark meat, she probably wouldn't dare eat it either.
Seeing that most of the class had gone into the water, Gao Xiaofu strapped a shark fin to his back and quietly slipped in. But after paddling a few laps in the water, he found that none of his classmates were paying him any attention, and he grew a little anxious.
He did not dare go too close to the other students either, because the water in the shallows was so clear that if he went over, someone was bound to notice that his shark was a fake.
Still, he could hardly shout, "I'm a shark, the shark is coming!"
Zhong Yongliang was anxious too. He was supposed to play the hero who fought the shark, so the shark could not be the one he discovered first; it would be best if someone else found it first and frightened all the other students onto the shore, and only then would Zhong Yongliang step forward to show his prowess and "finish off" the shark!
Just as the two of them were both horribly anxious, Shen Yushu suddenly leaped up in excitement: "Yao Yao, it's a shark! The shark's here!"
