Chapter 1140 — The Emergence of the Final Threshold

Blade of Dawn Page 3 of 3

"Under normal circumstances, within this closed-loop system, it is all but impossible for such a 'thread-end that jumps out' to appear, because the trajectories of all the thread-ends have already been decided, and the yarn ball itself is constantly preventing any transgressive act from occurring. The closed-loop system cannot of itself produce a 'window' that lets one of its members escape the system. So for the vast majority of a civilization's development, the only way to make the yarn ball collapse is through the gradual overloading and disorder of the entire system — put in terms you have already come to understand, that is 'a violent shift in the collective thought-tide on the macro level causes the god to lose control.' In other words, the changes in thought-tide generated by vast numbers of mortals within this closed-loop system accumulate until quantity becomes quality, and in the end destroy the entire system.

"The nearest example to you is the God of War.

"In another case, however, information from outside the closed-loop system intervenes in that system. This information lies entirely beyond the control of the 'yarn ball'; only a tiny bit of it is needed to make some thread-end jump out of the loop. This plunges a system that was originally capable of self-explanation into sudden incoherence — a 'factor' that violates the rules appears within its — that is, the god's — originally flawless operating logic, and no matter how small that factor is, it will contaminate the entire system.

"The nearest example to you is me.
