Chapter 378 — The Xuanmai Sect Is Watching from Above

Blade of Dawn Page 2 of 2

"It must be my imagination," the blue dragon muttered. "How could the Voyagers ever come back?"

"...You scared my scales into changing color!" The voice on the other side seemed relieved, but carried a note of complaint. "All right, the communication is ending. Continue your mission. Next contact at the usual time."

The communication ended, and the floating projection before the blue dragon vanished. But that feeling of being watched from high above... still clung to the dragon.

"...Who's so nasty as to open a Mage's Eye in the stratosphere?!" After a moment the dragon finally grew angry. Then she beat her enormous wings violently, and driven by a wild wind of magic, her vast body began a violent turn in the air. "One loop maneuver and I'll dizzy you to death... Whoa... whoa... oh my—cramp... cramp..."

In Cecil Territory, Gao Wen ended the satellite connection in a state of astonishment.

After first monitoring the Fortress of Defiance at noon, he had rested for a while in the afternoon, and after dinner he had resumed the task.

Although after regaining satellite viewpoint adjustment privileges he found that the clarity of the surveillance image had dropped considerably—no longer as high-definition as when he had been in his "satellite spirit" state—a real-time surveillance viewpoint still let him observe the general situation of the border peace talks at once. So after estimating that the talks had begun, he kept watching the fortress whenever he had time.

Until just now, when a dragon suddenly entered his field of view...

He could be absolutely certain it was a dragon, and judging by the color of its scales and its general outline, he thought it looked very similar to the dragon he had seen in the old Cecil Territory just after he had risen from his coffin. He could not yet be sure it was the same one—after all, no one knew whether all dragons looked alike.

After the dragon suddenly entered his field of view, Gao Wen's entire attention was drawn to it. This was the second time he had observed a dragon since his "resurrection," and his immense curiosity even made him forget for a time the peace talks underway at the Fortress of Defiance. He immediately began tracking the dragon's movements, setting the fortress aside for the moment.

But that did not matter much. The fortress still had a roof over it, and the current satellite viewpoint had no see-through capability, so even if he kept staring at the negotiation site, he would only be studying someone's roof.

He tracked the dragon for more than ten minutes. In the latter half of the pursuit, Gao Wen was astonished to discover something: the dragon had actually sensed his gaze!

The dragon frequently raised its head and changed its flight path—clear evidence that it realized someone was spying on it.

But to Gao Wen's relief, the dragon seemed to have no way to deal with the satellite in the sky. The enormous creature was never able to escape his line of sight...

Only at the very end did the dragon shake off the surveillance in a way that left Gao Wen dumbfounded. It was a thrilling, ultra-high-speed series of maneuvers, accompanied by a spiraling, tilting dive straight toward the ground.

Faced with such a completely unexpected and highly technical maneuver, Gao Wen's speed in adjusting the viewpoint and focus was finally half a beat too slow, and he lost the dragon...
