Chapter 296 — Yang Juehuan's True Assets
Years of Heartflutter Page 2 of 2
"Uncle Sun, I'm planning to build that island in the African nation into a world-class resort island," Yang Yanzhou said. "I believe Uncle Sun is no stranger to Henry Island?"
"Yes, I've been to Henry Island. It really is a paradise on earth—a playground for the rich," Sun Lin nodded and said. "Don't tell me you want to build a similar island too? The construction cost and expenses for that are hardly low."
Yang Yu nodded and said, "I know the construction cost and expenses are not low, but I still have the strength to build it now." As Yang Yanzhou spoke, he opened the computer on the desk, logged into a bank account inquiry website, and entered his Swiss bank account number.
Because one could only make inquiries online and not transfer funds, Lou Ming was not afraid that the computer might have viruses or the like. Yang Ce opened the itemized details under his account, turned the computer screen toward Sun Lin, and said, "Uncle Sun, this is the cash I currently hold."
"Oh." At first Sun Lin did not take it seriously; he casually raised his head to look at the computer screen—but the moment he looked, his eyes fixed on the screen and could not move.
"One zero, two zeros, one zero... four zeros, five zeros, six zeros..." Sun Lin's eyes widened as he began counting the zeros after the string of digits on the screen. "Over ten billion?"
Yang Heng smiled and gave a slight nod.
Sun Lin's mouth fell open in astonishment—but when he saw the euro currency symbol in front of that ten-plus billion, he nearly fainted. After quite a while he managed to say, "Euros, no less?"
"Yes." This was the black gold Yang Ce had obtained from Dorsk, though afterward Yang Si had also collected a good deal of mining contract fees over in the country—those were naturally not included in this sum. Merely using that money to build the country into a world-class resort island was already more than enough.
"Now I finally understand why you don't care about my little bit of family property." Sun Lin, worthy of a man who did great things, quickly recovered from his brief astonishment and gave a somewhat self-mocking smile. "Since you don't care, then there's nothing more for me to say. This money of yours is enough to last you several lifetimes without ever running out."
"Uncle Sun, the purpose of showing you this money is not to show off, but to set your mind at ease—so that you won't be distracted by matters of money," Yang Heng said. "Actually, the money to build the island can be entirely self-sufficient on the island itself. The island is rich in mineral resources—centuries of mining wouldn't exhaust them. I've already contracted out those mineral deposits, and the income is enough to cover the construction of the island."
"Ah, so that's how it is—the island also has mineral rental income." Sun Lin had roughly heard that North Africa was rich in minerals, so hearing Yang Cenbin say this did not strike him as particularly strange.
"The men under my command—I'll have them do the heavy labor," one of them said.
"Whatever you say, we'll do it your way." Sun Lin had not expected to have another chance to unfold grand plans. He had thought that after this affair he would simply retire.
From this whole affair Sun Lin had also come to understand where his own weakness lay: he had never known how to keep his men properly in hand, and that was what had produced such disastrous consequences.
And now that Yang Ce had told him he need not bother about his men and could simply act on his own ideas, Sun Lin found a good deal of trouble spared him. He did not know how Yang Ce had brought those men to heel, though he supposed they were all frightened out of their wits by him.
With their plans settled, the two men left the office in high spirits. Sun Er, of course, asked nothing—he knew the rules—but Sun Jie was not pleased. That Yang Ce and her father should talk behind her back left a thoroughly sour taste in her mouth.
"Dad, what were you two talking about all this time?" Sun Jie could not help asking.
"Heh heh, Yang Ce here is planning to pack this old man off to Africa," Sun Lin said with a chuckle.
"What? Africa? What's going on?" Sun Jie was utterly baffled, unable to make head or tail of it.
Sun Lin glanced at Yang Ce, saw him give a slight nod, and so recounted the whole business to Sun Jie, who clicked her tongue in amazement again and again. Never in her wildest dreams had she imagined that Yang Ce owned an island in Africa; and at the thought of how he had kept it from her, she shot Yang Ce a glare.
Yang Ce protested his innocence. "Really, Jie, I only got the island on this latest trip out. I hadn't even had the chance to tell you before Tian Long had you under house arrest."
Only then was Sun Jie mollified. It was not that she was petty; it was simply that she had already made up her mind about Yang Ce, already counted herself his woman, and so he ought not to be keeping things from her.
Such was the shift in Sun Jie's thinking—one she herself had not even noticed.
"Uncle Sun, aren't you going to see Tian Long?" Yang Ce asked, glancing at Sun Lin.
At Yang Ce's words Sun Lin hesitated. He knew Yang Ce meant to have Tian Long shipped off to Africa, and that was Yang Ce's own territory—so naturally there was no fear that Tian Long could pull any other tricks there.
Still, Sun Lin could not quite set his mind at ease. Although Yang Ce had already decided not to deal with Tian Long—
"Then let's have a look," Sun Lin said, hesitating a moment longer before making up his mind.
"This fellow's got no shortage of sly tricks. Once he's in Africa he can serve as your scheming adviser," Yang Ce said.
"Aren't you afraid he'll pull another stunt like this one?" Sun Lin was uneasy about Tian Long.
"Heh, if he can buy over my men, then that's his skill," Yang Ce said with a curl of his lip, thinking to himself that no matter how much money Tian Long gave them, they would never dare gamble with their lives.
Sun Lin nodded as well; he too reckoned that Yang Ce must have something to rely on, which was why he could be so at ease about Tian Long.
The two of them walked together toward Tian Long's room. Yang Ce had business with Tian Long as well: he meant to wait until the man had calmed down completely and then ask him about the boss behind the scenes.
As for Tian Long, Yang Ce truly bore him little hatred, for he was nothing more than a pawn of the boss behind the scenes; his real opponent was still that boss. (To be continued)
