Chapter 260 — Yang Ce, Save Me!
Years of Heartflutter Page 3 of 3
Especially at night, with Yang Ce's headlights on, Jing Yu could not make out the model of the car, its plate, or who sat in the driver's seat even when she turned around. So after Yang Ce had trailed her for some time, Jing Xiaolu finally broke down.
"Ah—!" Jing Yu screamed.
The shrill sound cut through the quiet campus. Yang Duoran heard Jing Yu's cry too, and instinctively brought the car to a stop, pushed open the door, and jumped out.
Jing Yu, hearing the sound of a car door opening behind her, grew even more frightened and broke into a run without daring to look back. Earlier, when Jing Yu had turned around, Yang Ce had already recognized her, and was puzzling over what she was doing wandering the school so late; before he could roll down the window to ask, Jing Yu had let out that baffling scream and dashed forward, which left Yang Ce all the more bewildered, unable to guess what had gotten into her.
Still, Yang Ce instinctively gave chase.
Hearing footsteps behind her, Jing Yu knew the person from the car had leapt out and was coming after her. Her fear deepened, her heart pounding as if it would leap from her throat, and she ran for dear life.
But Jing Yu had never been any good at sprinting or distance running; though Yang Ce had started later, he drew closer and closer. Jing Yu was on the verge of tears—how could she be so unlucky? She pictured all the things that might follow capture: to be molested, insulted, killed... Jing Yu was coming apart. Knowing she could not outrun the man behind her, in her despair she could not help but cry out at the top of her voice: "Yang Ce, save me—!"
