Chapter 147 — The Long-Awaited...

Years of Heartflutter Page 438 of 501

"Oh?" Wang Yanqiu thought it sounded strange. Depth and length, indeed—putting on airs and quoting things at her. Why not just say that each of them knew the other's secrets and be done with it?

But looking at Yang Ce's rather lewd expression, Wang Yanqiu felt something was off again. Did his words carry some other meaning?

"Depth." "Length." Wang Yanqiu thought carefully about Yang Ce's tone just now, and all at once she understood. She flushed scarlet, and realized what Yang Juehuan was getting at: "Can't you think about something decent for a change?"

"How am I not being decent?" Yang Ce saw the look on Wang Yanqiu's face and knew she had caught his drift.

"This length and depth you're talking about—what do you mean by it?" Wang Yanqiu demanded.

"Nothing at all," Yang Jiyan said innocently. "It's just that we already know a great deal about each other. Is there any other meaning to it?"

"You—" Wang Yanqiu was so angry her little face went red, yet she could not argue; surely she could not explain to him what depth was and what length was.

"Oh, don't tell me you've taken a perfectly innocent remark and twisted it?" Yang Ce suddenly wore the look of a man who had caught her red-handed, and gazed at Wang Yanqiu. "Honestly, little Yanyan, the way things are between us, a little flirtation now and then is fine, but you can't spend all day thinking about such dirty things—you'll never get any real work done."

Yang Cenbin's words left Wang Yanqiu livid, ready to kill. But she was no match for Yang Juehuan, and since she could not beat him in a fight, she had no choice but to let it go.

Still, she turned her face away in a huff and would not look at Yang Ce.

Yang Hengye smiled and said nothing. The two of them were for all the world like a pair of young lovers fresh in love. Only, his relationship with Wang Yanqiu was a little harder to manage.

He absolutely must not bring this girl home. Otherwise, given Chen Shutang's temper, she would surely fly into a jealous rage, and Wang Yanqiu might not tolerate Chen Shutang either. If Wang Yanqiu went and tried to assassinate Chen Shutang, he would have his hands full every day.

Yang Ce parked the car at the entrance of the Celestial Wonderland. Wei Jin had already sent a text message: he was in Room 4026.

Yang Ce got out, and seeing that Wang Yanqiu was still sitting in the car sulking, he felt rather helpless. So the girl had her little tantrums too. Yang Ce scratched his scalp. "Little Yanyan, get out of the car."

"I'm not going. Go by yourself. I don't want to know your length, and your business has nothing to do with me." Wang Yanqiu gritted her teeth.

"You already know it, don't you?" Yang Hengye opened the door and lowered his voice. "Hurry up, don't waste time. When we get home tonight, we'll continue teaching each other about length and depth."

Wang Yanqiu blushed and gave a cold snort. "You still won't admit it—it's your own filthy mind."

"All right, I admit it," Yang Xunai said placatingly. "Is that enough for you?" It was harmless enough; Yang Ce did not mind admitting it.

"That's more like it." Wang Yanqiu jumped out of the car, a victorious smile on her face.

To be continued.

1026. A Bargain and a Half

As soon as Yang Puqi walked in, the lobby manager of the Celestial Wonderland came up to greet him with a smile. "Mr. Yang, you're here."

"I'm here at someone else's invitation today. No need to trouble yourself with me." Yang Ce waved a hand.

"Very well." Seeing that Yang Ce had turned him down outright, the lobby manager said no more.

Yang Ce took Wang Yanqiu straight upstairs and did not tell the lobby manager which room they were going to, so the manager had no way of informing Mr. Guo either. Besides, Mr. Guo had been busy with the real estate company these past few days and was not at the hotel now.

Arriving at the door of Room 4026, Yang Ce knocked. After a moment, Wei Jin's voice came from inside: "Who is it?"

"It's me. Yang Ce," Yang Yanzhou said.

The door opened, and Wei Jin stood there looking haggard. It had only been a few days since they last met, and the man had lost a whole ring's worth of weight. Yang Ce was startled. Then again, the fellow's father had died—grief was only natural.

"Please come in." Wei Jin forced out a smile at the sight of Yang Ce and ushered him inside.

"What did you want to see me about?" Yang Ce sat down on the sofa with Wang Yanqiu, while Wei Jin took a seat on the bed by himself.

Wei Jin glanced at Wang Yanqiu beside Yang Ce and hesitated. Even so, he could not help but envy Yang Juehuan's luck with women—how was it that every woman at his side was such a rare beauty?

But Wei Jin had no mind for beauties now. Hatred was all that remained in his heart—the hatred that demanded he kill Zou Ruoguang and wash away his grievance in blood.

"If there's something on your mind, just say it. She knows almost everything about my affairs." Yang Ce glanced at Wang Yanqiu, then spoke to Wei Jin.

Hearing Yang Juehuan's words, Wang Yanqiu's heart gave a jolt, and she suddenly recalled what Yang Ce had said in the car earlier. Though Yang Yanzhou was now perfectly serious and the earlier ambiguity was gone, she still could not help thinking of that moment.

Wei Jin looked at Wang Yanqiu, then back at Yang Ce, and seeing how resolute he was, decided not to press the matter further. He had already cast caution to the winds anyway; there was nothing left for him to hold back.

"Yang Ce, there was a bit of bad blood between us before, but that hardly counts for anything now, does it?" Wei Jin asked tentatively.

"Of course. If you say it counts for nothing, then it counts for nothing." Yang Hengye smiled, thinking to himself, If you can shrug off the murder of your father as nothing, I certainly have no objection.

"Good. Then this time I want to ask a favor of you. Once it's done, name whatever terms you like." Wei Jin nodded and said.

"What favor?" Yang Yanchuan asked.

"I want you to help me get rid of someone." Wei Jin hesitated for a moment, then said with venom in his voice.

"Get rid of someone?" Yang Ce was taken aback. "You're asking me to help you kill a man?"

He exchanged a glance with Wang Yanqiu, and both saw the bewilderment in each other's eyes. They had only just finished looking into the matter of the assassin group, and now a proposition had come knocking at the door.

"Yang Ce, you're the only person I can think of right now," Wei Jin said with a sigh, his voice pitiful. "Something has happened to my family—you've probably seen it in the papers these past few days. My father's men went down with him. Right now, I truly have no one left to turn to. Otherwise I would never have thought of you."

"And you think I'd kill a man for money?" Yang Ce gave a cold laugh and looked at Wei Jin as though he were a joke.

"That—" Wei Jin's expression froze. He understood well enough that Yang Ce would be taking a great risk, but he truly had no other way. If he hired some random person and it failed, a second attempt on Zou Ruoguang's life would be all but impossible. "Yang Ce, I think your skills are formidable. Getting rid of one man would be nothing to you."

"Do you take me for a fool?" Yang Ce shot back.

"Not at all. As for the man to be killed, I believe you must hate him too," Wei Jin said. "It's Zou Ruoguang."

"Zou Ruoguang? Why would you want him killed?" Yang Xutang was baffled—weren't these two cousins? Why were they trying to kill each other?

"He—he infected me with AIDS, that bastard!" The mere mention of it made Wei Jin grind his teeth in fury. He held nothing back from Yang Ce; there was nothing left to hide, and besides, how else would Yang Ce believe him?

"AIDS? He infected you?" Yang Puqi was stunned, then his eyes went wide and he could not help blurting out, "No way. You're both men—how could it pass between you? Unless the two of you are playing at... broken arms?"
