Chapter 147 — The Long-Awaited...

Years of Heartflutter Page 376 of 501

After eating a few dumplings with Wang Yanqiu and buying some to take back for Chen Shutang and the others, the two left the dumpling shop. Wang Yanqiu suddenly had a strange feeling—the two of them seemed less like partners and more like a couple.

Wang Yanqiu shook her head with a bitter smile and was about to get in the car when she heard a voice behind her calling her name: "Wang Yanqiu!"

At the sound of that voice, Wang Yanqiu felt somewhat helpless. She turned around and saw a man in his thirties walking toward her, saying as he came, "Wang Yanqiu, having breakfast here?"

"Coach Li." Wang Yanqiu gave a perfunctory nod, not wanting to say much more, and made to get in the car.

"What, in a hurry to leave?" Coach Li glanced at the BMW beside Wang Yanqiu and at Yang Ce in the driver's seat, and his brow furrowed at once.

He had long had designs on Wang Yanqiu and had done a detailed investigation, learning that she not only had no boyfriend but also had no parents nearby—she was the perfect target for him to make his move.

Li Deding was a coach for the city's long-distance running team. He had first met Wang Yanqiu when she was in high school, back when she represented her school at a high school sports meet organized by the municipal sports committee.

At the time, Wang Yanqiu's school PE teacher had brought in Li Deding to serve as her coach. At first, Li Deding behaved quite uprightly, but as time went on, his beastly true nature gradually revealed itself.

After every training session, he would always find some excuse to treat Wang Yanqiu to a drink or a meal. At first, out of politeness, Wang Yanqiu went twice, but afterward Li Deding began to get handsy with her, and Wang Yanqiu understood his purpose.

What kind of person was Wang Yanqiu, that she would let Li Deding take advantage of her? After a few such incidents, Li Deding's desire only grew more unbearable, and he began inviting Wang Yanqiu to his home, saying he would give her private coaching. After Wang Yanqiu refused, Li Deding still would not give up. He had toyed with a few female high school long-distance runners before, though their looks were nothing to write home about, and a few had even seduced him of their own accord.

But Wang Yanqiu—she was delicate and charming, with a good figure. How could Li Deding not be moved? The more unobtainable she was, the more his heart itched like it was being clawed by a cat.

Through a friend, he looked into Wang Yanqiu's student records and discovered that she lived alone in Songjiang with her parents far away. Li Deding immediately felt he had an opportunity—if it came down to it, he could use force; she probably would not be able to do anything to him afterward.

After Wang Yanqiu entered university, Li Deding had originally planned to use the next semester's spring sports meet as a chance to get close to her again and settle the matter in one stroke. He had not expected to run into her here—and with a young man beside her, which made Li Deding very unhappy.

"Wang Yanqiu, so how have you been? Since starting university, have you slacked off on training?" Li Deding said sanctimoniously, putting on an air of great concern.

"I'm not a professional athlete. Long-distance running is just a hobby—there's no need to train that diligently," Wang Yanqiu replied perfunctorily.

"That won't do at all!" Li Deding put on a look of regret. "In my view, you're a fine prospect—you might even become a world champion someday. Let me see your leg muscles, whether they've gone soft."

With that, Li Deding solicitously reached out his hand toward Wang Yanqiu's leg.

Yang Ce was furious at the sight. Who the hell do you think you are, popping out to touch my wife—do you have a death wish? He floored the accelerator, and with a "bang," Li Deding was knocked head over heels by the rear of Yang Juehuan's car and landed on the ground.

"How the hell do you drive?!" Li Deding flew into a rage, got up with a face full of anger, ran to the driver's side of Yang Ce's car, and pointed at Yang Ce, cursing.

"Oh? Did I hit you?" Yang Puqi said with an innocent face. "So sorry 'bout that—didn't see you."

"I'm a grown man standing right there—how could you not see me? I can tell you're doing this on purpose!" Seeing Yang Ce play dumb, Li Deding grew even more furious. "What school are you from? Tell me, and I'll have someone expel you!"

Li Deding specialized in training athletes for various schools and was on good terms with the leaders of each school—which was why he was so arrogant.

To be continued.

983. Teasing (Part Two)

Li Deding specialized in training athletes for various schools and was on good terms with the leaders of each school—which was why he was so arrogant.

"Were you standing just now?" Yang Ce asked, puzzled. "I looked a moment ago—there was no one behind the car."

"I—" Li Deding was suddenly at a loss. He had indeed not been standing just now; he had been crouching down, about to reach for Wang Yanqiu's thigh. Who would have thought Yang Ce would suddenly back the car up?

Although Li Deding was certain Yang Puqi had done it on purpose, there was no way to argue the point. He really had crouched down, and if Yang Ce had reversed at that very instant, he truly could not have seen him.

And if the matter blew up, and someone asked him why he had crouched down, that would be even worse—was he supposed to say he had been trying to cop a feel of Wang Yanqiu's thigh? Besides, he had only been knocked over, nothing serious; at worst his backside hurt like hell, but no bones were broken. He hesitated a moment, then gave a cold snort: "Forget it, I won't hold it against you. Lucky for you I'm an athlete—if it had been some frail little thing, that fall would have broken their legs."

"Oh, if I had hit you, that would have been a real bother," Yang Xutang said after hearing Li Deding out. "But are you sure that if I did hit you, you wouldn't turn around and extort me?"

Yang Puqi's face was full of doubt, and Li Deding was left utterly exasperated. He gave a humph, too annoyed to bother arguing, and turned away resentfully. To Wang Yanqiu he said, "Don't you go giving up on training. You're a fine prospect—I've got high hopes for you."

"Yes, Coach Li." Wang Yanqiu fought hard to hold back her laughter. This Yang Ce really was wicked—knocking a man over and then leaving him with no grounds to complain. Li Deding had certainly met his match this time. "Mm, then I'll be off." Li Deding, too, had worked up a bellyful of pent-up anger and had no stomach left for taking advantage of Wang Yanqiu. Still, he could not resist adding spitefully, "Wang Yanqiu, that friend of yours can't drive worth a damn. For your own safety, you'd better not ride in his car anymore."

Yang Xutang could not stand it—the old lecher still would not give it a rest. She stuck her head out and glared: "Hey, you there, I'm backing up again. Get out of the way. If I hit you this time, it just means you're blind."

Li Deding shot Yang Puqi a murderous glare but there was nothing he could do. He could hardly drag Yang Ce out in public and beat him up, could he? And seeing that the car Yang Ce drove was a BMW, he knew the student's family had some standing; he did not dare oppose him openly. He could only step aside, and after watching Wang Yanqiu get into the car, Li Deding cursed his rotten luck.

"Yang Ce, you really are wicked—weren't you afraid you'd kill him with one hit?" Wang Yanqiu, seeing Li Deding made a fool of by Yang Ce, felt thoroughly delighted. If not for the fact that Li Deding had once given her some tips on competition technique, Wang Yanqiu would long since have dealt with him. Playing a few dirty tricks on his route home from work every day would have been child's play.
