Across the mountain's plateau, several li in breadth, were scattered countless boulders. Because these boulders were of strange and grotesque shapes, no two alike, one standing among them and lifting one's eyes would behold skies of a myriad forms—and from this the Ten Thousand Heavens Peak took its name.
In later years, certain great personages proposed building pavilions and tea houses atop the many strange stones, so that upon each boulder stood a pavilion or a private box. In no time at all the place became a retreat for the idle hours of the Central Island's many luminaries, and in recent years each successive Central Island Grand Auction had likewise been convened here.
