"It's a place where I usually cultivate. If you're with me, once you fall asleep you can enter it," Wei Zhao said. "But first you have to be with me—holding my hand and close to me!"
This was not Wei Zhao trying to take advantage of Tang Zhi; it was simply the truth. For another person to enter the jade pendant's space, the two had to clasp hands—this first time, at least. Once the jade pendant's space had finished acknowledging its master, the next time Tang Zhi wished to enter, she could do so on her own: so long as she was within Wei Zhao's range and sent him a request signal, once Wei Zhao agreed, Tang Zhi could enter the jade pendant's space by herself!
"Oh? Really?" Tang Zhi listened to Wei Zhao as though hearing a tale from the heavens, feeling utterly lost in the clouds!
"Try it and you'll know!" Wei Zhao nodded.
Half-believing, half-doubting, Tang Zhi lay down beside Wei Zhao. Had she not trusted him absolutely, and known that Wei Zhao had no need of such a trick to lure her into bed, she might truly have thought he meant to take improper advantage of her!
Tang Zhi lay beside Wei Zhao, holding his hand. In an instant her breathing grew somewhat disordered. This was a scene she had once dreamed of and longed for—lying together with Wei Zhao, whispering secrets—yet before, it had seemed so very distant to her; and now it was so very real.
"Are you asleep?" Wei Zhao asked.
"Mm—no!" Tang Zhi shook her head. How could she possibly sleep? She was too excited for that.
"That won't do—if you don't sleep, you can't enter the jade pendant's space!" Wei Zhao said, somewhat helplessly.
"Mm, mm, I'll try my best." Tang Zhi closed her eyes.
"All right!" Wei Zhao nodded.
At last, after more than half an hour, Tang Zhi fell asleep—and Wei Zhao saw Tang Zhi within the jade pendant's space!
Tang Zhi had to sleep, but Wei Zhao no longer needed to; he could enter the jade pendant's space directly.
"Ah, where is this?" Tang Zhi, having just entered the jade pendant's space, seemed a little frightened. It was dark inside, all around an endless void, with no end in sight—and the jade pendant's space Wei Zhao used for storage was invisible to Tang Zhi. "Ah, who are you?"
Tang Zhi saw Jiaoyazi and recoiled two steps in shock!
"I'm the one who taught Little Yi to save you, that time Zhong Yongliang carried you off and drugged you," Jiaoyazi said smugly.
"Oh, it's you..." Tang Zhi nodded and said, "You're such a busybody!"
"Gah!" Jiaoyazi was stunned. He had been waiting for Tang Zhi to thank him—never expecting to be met with "You're such a busybody." For a moment he was beside himself with frustration and quite speechless!
"Haha!" Wei Zhao, entering the jade pendant's space, happened to catch Tang Zhi and Jiaoyazi's exchange, and could not help finding it rather funny; he burst out laughing!
Earlier Tang Zhi had assumed Wei Zhao had not come in because he saw she was not asleep, and that was why she had said it—never imagining that Wei Zhao had heard! RS
