Chapter 3412 — The Simplest Way

Though Wei Zhao was highly skilled, the place was heavily guarded, with sentries and surveillance cameras everywhere. Getting in would not be particularly easy for him, and once inside he would have to conceal his identity and avoid being seen, which would make the investigation all the more difficult.
But now that Wei Zhao had been captured and taken inside, he could investigate openly and boldly. Since these people had captured Pangolin to refine drugs, Wei Zhao would deliver himself to their door and let them catch him—and sure enough, they had caught him.
Escorted in on both sides, he was brought into the poison-refining base. Very quickly one of the big men went to report to Lou Qitian—but for a small-fry early Earth rank who had come here causing trouble, Lou Qitian had not the slightest interest in taking a look. He simply told the two big men to send Wei Zhao off to be converted into a bio-human.
Wei Zhao was taken by the two men directly into what looked like a laboratory inside the poison-refining base. The person who received Wei Zhao was a middle-aged man in a white lab coat.
The black-clad big man who had not gone to report shoved Wei Zhao down onto a chair, then asked sternly, "Kid, what's your name?"
"Ling Yi. What, scared now that you know? Starting to probe into my background?" Wei Zhao asked with feigned arrogance.
"Haha!" The big man burst out laughing. "Ling Yi, is it? What a lousy name. Never heard of it. From today on, your name is 9527. That will be your lifelong designation here, never to change."
"9527?" Wei Zhao was briefly taken aback. That number was actually rather auspicious.
"Search him for all his mobile devices, then lock him up with handcuffs and shackles. I'm going to begin the conversion," the man in the white coat said mildly.
"Yes, Doctor." The big man nodded and began searching Wei Zhao. After searching for quite a while, he found no mobile phone or the like—only a pill bottle containing a single Small-Return Pill.
"What crap is this." He casually tossed it back to Wei Zhao, not even interested in keeping it. "9527, where's your phone?"
"What would we cultivators want with a phone?" Wei Zhao said, startled.
"Didn't think you'd be a penniless wretch. Give him the injection," the big man said, taking out handcuffs and shackles and chaining Wei Zhao to the chair so he could not move.
The chair was made of fine steel and mystic iron; an ordinary cultivator could never break free. So after shackling Wei Zhao, the big man leisurely went off to one side to rest.
This time, it was the Doctor's turn to begin the conversion of Wei Zhao!
"What is this thing? Good heavens, I've heard that everyone brought in here gets converted into a bio-human. I'm not going to be one too, am I?" Wei Zhao cried out in alarm.
"Bio-humans are old history. This is the newest serum—it will let you keep your own will, but when you're working, it can drain your physical strength to the limit," the Doctor said mildly. "Keeping your own will makes you easier to manage. If you want to survive here, you must obey and work hard. Only those who work hard will be given food!"
"Don't think that just because you're cultivators you don't need to eat. Here, cultivation is impossible—there is no spiritual energy of heaven and earth at all. It's all been polluted by the waste fumes from the drugs."
