Chapter 3266 — The Red Conch Headquarters

The Blossom Guardian · Page 2 of 2

As for what Wei Zhao was going to do on Tiankeng Road, the driver didn't ask. He didn't seem to have a particularly high level of English—just enough for basic conversation. For chatting, he fell a bit short—and the more that was so, the happier Wei Zhao felt. Best if no one asked him anything at all.

Dawn had just broken. Tiankeng Road was not a commercial street, so there weren't many people about. After getting out of the car, Wei Zhao began searching for a red building. There weren't many high-rises on this street, and it didn't take him long to spot one on one side of the road, marked with the sign "Conch Group."

Conch Group? Wei Zhao shook his head. Why not call it Fire Wolf Group? But whatever it was called had nothing to do with him. His purpose in coming here was to steal that document from the general manager's office inside the building.

Wei Zhao casually bought a newspaper on the street, then, posing as a passerby, walked over to a bench near the Conch Building and sat down to read, like a leisurely tourist. No one paid him any particular attention.

Out of the corner of his eye, however, he kept watching the Conch Building. To his surprise, even at this early hour, cars were continuously driving in and out of its courtyard. That discovery made Wei Zhao frown.

After all, ordinary companies had hardly anyone around in the morning. The Conch Group was different—so many people coming and going this early. He wondered whether anyone was around at night.

But looking at the building, many of the windows still had their lights on—clearly turned on when it got dark and not yet switched off now that day had broken. Evidently, people did work at the Conch Group at night as well.

Wei Zhao shook his head, picked up his newspaper, and walked toward a restaurant across the street. From his observations, this restaurant was run by a Scottish couple—he could tell from their clothing and the tone in which they spoke with customers.

So Wei Zhao chose this restaurant and went inside.

There weren't many people in the restaurant, since it was simply too early. Only two or three customers were buying things, and all of them were taking their food to go—none had chosen to eat in.

After they left, Wei Zhao bought a few items at random, sat down, and, feigning casualness, struck up a conversation with the couple.

"Ma'am, you're not from around here, are you? You're Scottish, aren't you?" Wei Zhao asked in English.

"That's right, young man. How did you know? Are you here traveling?" The proprietress had nothing else to do at the moment, so when Wei Zhao spoke up, she followed along.

"Yes. I've been over that way before. From your accent, you must be from there—and the decor of your shop, and your clothes, they're all from that region too." Wei Zhao wasn't lying. He had been to Scotland before, back when he was on a mission.

"Heh, this is just a small town. What's there to see? There aren't any particularly good attractions either," the proprietress said with a smile.
