"It's very important. Could you make an excuse and leave?" Gu Mengyao did not know whether the Supreme Elder of the Night Palace would come knocking again the next day. Perhaps tonight would be her last night at the villa.
"All right, then. I'll come over right away!" Gu Pengzhan could hear that something was wrong in her voice, so he agreed without hesitation.
After hanging up, Gu Pengzhan apologized to his client. The client, however, was not displeased; he hardly dared be. "Uncle Chu?" Wei Zhao was somewhat surprised to receive Gu Pengzhan's call. He had not expected Gu Pengzhan to call so soon after Gu Mengyao had spoken with him.
"Xiaoyi, it's me. I wanted to ask whether Yaoyao has run into some kind of trouble. She just said on the phone that I should come over immediately." Gu Pengzhan let out a sigh of relief when Wei Zhao answered. If Wei Zhao had not picked up, that would have meant something was seriously wrong. Since Wei Zhao was right beside Gu Mengyao, the matter should not be too grave.
"Uncle Chu, it's a little complicated. It would be better to wait until you arrive before we talk about it." Even over the phone, Wei Zhao could not explain the situation clearly.
"Oh?" Gu Pengzhan was startled. He had not expected Wei Zhao to say that as well, but he did not press the matter. Instead, he immediately said, "All right. I'm on my way now!"
After hanging up, Wei Zhao shrugged at Gu Mengyao. "Yaoyao, Uncle Chu just called. He sounds very worried."
"Yes. Daddy has always worried about me. Now that I'm leaving, I don't know whether he'll be able to accept it." Gu Mengyao sighed, a trace of worry in her voice. "Mom left us when I was little. Now I'm leaving too. I don't know whether Daddy will feel lonely all by himself from now on..."
Wei Zhao had always been curious about where Gu Mengyao's mother had gone. At first, he had assumed she was dead, only to be harshly scolded by the eldest young lady and realize he had misunderstood. Even now, however, Wei Zhao still had no idea where Gu Mengyao's mother truly was.
"By the way, Yaoyao, where did your mother go?" Wei Zhao asked.
"My mother... I honestly don't know either. Daddy has never told me. He only said that Mom went somewhere very far away, and that it would be a long time before she could come back..." Gu Mengyao shook her head, a trace of bewilderment passing through her eyes.
