Therefore, if the You Family wished to rise, they could only accumulate strength on their own and find their own way—and that notebook of alchemy insights in Wei Zhao's possession was the perfect opportunity. If they obtained it, though the You Family's strength would not improve greatly in the near years, with the passage of time the You Family would grow ever more powerful!
Thus, to avoid arousing the Xuandan Sect's suspicion, Old Master You did not contact Tian Candie directly, but instead contacted Kang Jingming, the Eighth Elder of the Xuandan Sect! Old Master You also knew that Kang Jingming was Wei Zhao's enemy.
At this moment, the Xuandan Sect's trial had just concluded, and Kang Jingming was in the chambers of Ancestor Xuanchen discussing alchemy matters.
"Master, at present the Xuandan Sect's external commissioned pills consist only of the Qi Gathering Pill we promised Wei Zhao, the Qi Gathering Pill the Dark Night Palace requested for this trial, and the Marrow-Cleansing Bone-Transforming Pill requested by the Tomorrow and Tomorrow Sect!" Kang Jingming said. "In what order shall these pills be refined? And who shall be assigned to refine them?"
"The Marrow-Cleansing Bone-Transforming Pill can only be refined by you; no one else can do it! But we must give Wei Zhao an Ultimate Qi Gathering Pill passed off as a Qi Gathering Pill—this is a secret known only to the two of us, so this pill must also be refined by you. As for the Qi Gathering Pills, I can have Xuanzhen or another elder of the Xuandan Sect refine them," Ancestor Xuanchen said after a moment's thought.
"Then... of the two pills in my hands, which should I refine first?" Kang Jingming nodded and asked.
"Of your two, the one for the Tomorrow and Tomorrow Sect has nothing to do with our future plans; it is merely a courtesy to them. You had best refine Wei Zhao's Ultimate Qi Gathering Pill first—cripple Wei Zhao once and for all! That brat is always hovering before my eyes, and I never feel at ease!" said Ancestor Xuanchen.
"Yes, Master!" Kang Jingming was overjoyed to hear this. He too was most eager to deal with Wei Zhao, but in such a major matter he had no authority to decide, and could only wait for Ancestor Xuanchen's instructions.
No sooner had Kang Jingming finished speaking than his phone rang, giving him a start. He took out the phone and was about to cut it off, hastily explaining, "Master, I was in such a hurry when I came that I forgot to turn off my phone..."
"Who is calling?" Ancestor Xuanchen waved his hand and asked indifferently. "Answer it."
"This... it is the Hidden You Family?" Kang Jingming glanced at the caller display and was startled. He did have the Hidden You Family's number, but he did not know what they could be calling about; Kang Jingming was not particularly close to the Hidden You Family.
"Oh? Ask him what it is about," said Ancestor Xuanchen.
"Yes, Master." Kang Jingming nodded and picked up the call. "Hello? This is Kang Jingming..."
"Elder Kang, this is the head of the Hidden You Family..." Old Master You said carefully and respectfully. Kang Jingming's status was not what it once was, so he naturally had to be cautious.
"Ah, Old Master You. What can I do for you?" Kang Jingming said in greeting.
"It is like this... Elder Kang, is it convenient for you to talk right now?" Old Master You asked after a moment's hesitation.
