Chapter 2745 — Everyone Is Brainstorming

"Something's gone wrong with her body..." Wei Zhao had no intention of hiding it from Kang Jinglong—after all, this was not something that could be concealed. As long as he kept the matter of cultivation to himself, that would suffice. "She's growing weaker by the day! What else could I possibly do to her? If I were going to do something, I'd have done it long ago. If she moves back to the dorm, you'll be the death of her!"
"What!? Something's wrong with her body?" Kang Jinglong was startled. "What are you saying? Is this for real? How could her body be getting weaker and weaker? Wasn't she perfectly fine before? How is it that she weakens the moment she meets you?"
Had Kang Jinglong said this at any other time, Wei Zhao would have kicked him flying long ago. But out of guilt toward Wang Xinyan, he had to admit that Kang Jinglong had hit the nail on the head—Wang Xinyan had indeed begun to weaken only after meeting him. This filled Wei Zhao with immense guilt, yet he could not afford to lose face before Kang Jinglong. He glanced at him and said coolly, "Xinyan was frail as a child. You're her fiance—didn't you know? I say you may as well stop being her fiance. You don't even understand her as well as I do!"
"Damn it! I'd like to understand her too, but you squat in the seat beside Wang Xinyan all day long—what am I supposed to do?" Kang Jinglong said, annoyed. "So... how is she doing now?"
"Not too well. I've compounded medicine for her to take, but the effects aren't very obvious, and there's a trend toward it getting worse..." These past few days Wei Zhao had thought of nothing but Wang Xinyan's problem, losing his appetite for food and drink. This was all his doing—if anything happened to Wang Xinyan, he would be the chief culprit!
"Medicine you compounded? Is it even usable? It won't kill anyone, will it?" Kang Jinglong flared up at Wei Zhao's words. "She's ill—you should have taken her to the hospital. Treating her on your own, what if you make it worse?"
"Are you truly stupid or just pretending? Do cultivators ever go to hospitals? Besides, there's nothing wrong with her body at all—it's simply weakness, most likely a constitutional issue. Going to the hospital would be useless!" Wei Zhao said. "If you're so capable, then stop standing here spouting all this nonsense at me. You can try thinking of a solution too!"
Wei Zhao was at his wit's end, which was why he did not turn Kang Jinglong away when he came. If Kang Jinglong could think of a good solution, so much the better. As the saying goes, many heads are better than one.
"Where's the prescription you made for her? Let me see it. I need to have Teacher Bai appraise it—for all we know, it's this lousy medicine of yours that's caused the problem!" Kang Jinglong stretched out his hand, demanding the prescription from Wei Zhao.
"You think I'm some Kang Divine Physician Pharmaceutical Company, out to swindle people?" Wei Zhao curled his lip.
"You..." Kang Jinglong's face flushed red at Wei Zhao's retort, yet he had no way to refute it—after all, his Kang family really had done such things. So he could only huff, "You won't hand it over—is it because your conscience is guilty? Don't drag up those old stories."
"Oh, fine, I'll give it to you." Wei Zhao casually tore a sheet from his notebook and wrote down the prescription he had compounded for Wang Xinyan. This was hardly a secret in the first place.
Kang Jinglong had not expected Wei Zhao to write out the prescription so readily and was somewhat surprised, but he still quietly took it and went off to find Leader Bai.
The reason Wei Zhao gave it up so readily was that he actually wanted Kang Jinglong to take it to the Hidden Right Family or even the Xuandan Sect for reference and discussion, to see whether the prescription could be improved. For Wang Xinyan's sake, Wei Zhao did not mind such trifles.
