Chapter 2620 — The White Leader's Past

The Blossom Guardian · Page 1 of 2

"Mm..." Han Jingyi's cheeks flushed faintly. While bathing, she had naturally examined those parts that mattered most to a girl, carefully and thoroughly. Xiao Shiyi had ruined them once, but now they were as good as new—even a little more perfect than before, much to her satisfaction. Could this be counted as a blessing in disguise?

Seeing the look on her face, Wei Zhao knew there was no problem. He nodded, strode quickly out of the room, and drove off to the school.

The White Leader had not left yet; he was still waiting for Wei Zhao in the office, his heart in a complicated state. Before he had seen Han Jingyi's injuries, he had still harbored some shred of sect kinship toward Xuanchen and the others. But after seeing her, there was only fury in his heart.

As expected, the disciple and the daughter were cut from the same cloth as the master. Xuanchen had been vicious back then, and his daughter and disciple were no different, showing not the slightest mercy. Had he not stepped in when he did, Wei Zhao and Han Jingyi alike would likely have been reporting at the gates of hell by now.

"Knock, knock, knock..." A knock came at the office door. The White Leader roused himself from his thoughts and called out, "Come in!"

"Teacher Bai." Wei Zhao's own mood was just as tangled. The White Leader had saved him, true, but his murky ties to Xiao Yi's sect left Wei Zhao conflicted as well. Was the White Leader a good man or a bad one?

"Wei Zhao, you're here. Have a seat." The White Leader looked at him, sighed softly, and gestured toward the sofa beside him.

"Teacher Bai, about today..." Wei Zhao walked over, sat down beside him, and asked point-blank, "That Xiao Yi and Xiao Shiyi—just who are they, really? And you—how is it that you are their sect master's senior fellow disciple?"

"This matter... I knew you would ask." The White Leader smiled bitterly at Wei Zhao. "What sect they belong to, who they really are—for now I cannot say. I am bound by an ancestral precept: the name of our sect may not be lightly shown to others, unless certain specific conditions are met... Still, the ancient sects of the outside world generally refer to us by the name of that place..."

"Not even to me?" Wei Zhao was desperate to know the sect of his enemies. "Aren't I your disciple, more or less? And from a certain angle, aren't I your ancestral master?"

"This..." The White Leader hesitated at once. Indeed—whether as his disciple or as his ancestral master, there was no reason to keep the truth from Wei Zhao. So after a moment's wavering, he said, "Our sect is called the Five Luminaries Sect. Since you are both my disciple and my ancestral master, I will hide it no longer. But do not speak this name to others, lest it bring unnecessary trouble!"

"Our sect?" Wei Zhao was taken aback, and his brows knitted at once. "You mean to say I really am a fellow disciple of Xiao Yi and Xiao Shiyi? That my enemies and I belong to the same sect?"

"In a sense, yes. I am the master of this sect, and you are my disciple—or rather, my ancestral master—so we are all people of the Five Luminaries Sect," the White Leader said with a nod.

"But they are my enemies," Wei Zhao said, every word chiseled. "One day, I will get justice for Jingjing."

"Do you know how I was injured?" The White Leader did not answer him, but asked suddenly instead.

"Oh? How were you injured?" Wei Zhao assumed the White Leader was dodging the previous topic.

"It was Xiao Yi's master. While I was refining elixirs, he tampered with the process, and I lost control and was consumed by qi deviation, every meridian in my body torn..." The White Leader lifted his head, his eyes full of sorrow and helplessness, and gazed at the ceiling as though recalling the past. "To think that a master like that could raise a disciple like that..."
