Chapter 2611 — A Narrow Escape

"Damn it!" Wei Zhao's face drained of color as he watched the overwhelming vortex of true qi come sweeping toward him. Why was this thing refusing to play by the rules? It had actually unleashed his strongest martial skill in a single breath—the twentieth form of the Heaven Rank!
That was the equivalent of a Heaven Rank... no, it should be called Heaven Dao now—the twenty-second form martial skill! However arrogant Wei Zhao might be, he dared not take this lightly. He was going to be injured either way, so he might as well stake everything on one desperate gamble!
Wei Zhao's true qi bomb had been compressed almost to completion, but he had no suitable opening to release it. His true qi bomb was a technique that cost him eight hundred to kill a thousand of the enemy—once it was unleashed, Wei Zhao himself would certainly not fare well either!
If Xiao Yi happened to withstand the true qi bomb while the explosion instead wounded Wei Zhao, the only outcome would be death! But now, since the opponent had already unleashed his strongest martial skill, Wei Zhao's fate of grave injury was sealed. In that case, he may as well stop looking for an opportunity and simply hurl the true qi bomb out!
He was bound to be wounded no matter what—there was no choice but to fight now! With that thought, Wei Zhao, before the tornado could sweep him into the sky, thrust both hands forward and bellowed, "True qi bomb—detonate!"
"Boom—" The pure true qi bomb shot toward Xiao Yi and exploded in the space between them. The immense blast force pushed both Xiao Yi and Wei Zhao backward simultaneously!
Yet because of this, Wei Zhao was blessed by misfortune—the damage the twentieth form of Tornado Heaven and Earth inflicted on him was instead reduced to a minimum, for the true qi bomb's explosion blasted Wei Zhao directly out of Tornado Heaven and Earth's attack range!
Thus Tornado Heaven and Earth only grazed Wei Zhao with a glancing wound, and its other powers never landed on him at all! The strongest martial skill that Wei Zhao could never have dodged was, through a strange twist of fate, evaded entirely thanks to the true qi bomb's explosion!
Even so, Wei Zhao was in a sorry state. The full force of the true qi bomb's blast had been visited upon him, and since he could not shield himself with true qi while releasing it, his body was blasted beyond recognition, and he crashed heavily to the ground dozens of meters away!
Even so, Wei Zhao secretly counted himself lucky!
Had Xiao Yi's strike landed, he would surely have died! Its power was more than double that of the true qi bomb—it had reached an almost transcendent level! It was fortunate Wei Zhao had acted on the spot; otherwise, even with the Xuanyuan Dragon Taming Art, it would have been useless—he would have been beaten to death outright, without even a chance to cling to a single breath!
"Boom! Boom! Boom!" The destructive force from the collision and overlap of the tornado's true qi and the true qi bomb continued unabated, explosion after explosion ringing out. Between Wei Zhao and Xiao Yi, the air was filled with flying sand and shattered stone, and the ground at the school gate was nearly torn up!
It was fortunate no students were passing by, or they would all have been caught in the flying debris!
Wei Zhao coughed up mouthful after mouthful of fresh blood. He could feel his life slipping away bit by bit. Though a thin thread of true qi still stubbornly supported him from within, keeping him from immediately lapsing into unconsciousness, Wei Zhao knew he would soon be forced into the jade pendant space—if his injuries grew even a fraction worse, he would pass out on the spot!
Yet Wei Zhao also knew that although he had barely dodged this strike, if Xiao Yi came at him again, he would absolutely not be so lucky! He had only survived because the true qi bomb had blasted him away through a freak coincidence—but next time, where would Wei Zhao get another true qi bomb?
