Clearly this was a case of kicking an iron plate. He would have to make things clear to Lei Daming; the hidden Han family would have to be suppressed by someone from the hidden Zhao family. But Zhao Guangsi did not have the clout to summon anyone from the hidden Zhao family—Lei Daming, however, did.
"I understand. Don't do anything rash for now—serve them their dishes as usual and stay out of sight. I'll arrange for someone else to go over!" Zhao Guangsi said.
"Yes, Chairman Zhao!" the lobby manager said hastily.
No sooner had he hung up than Zhao Guangsi impatiently dialed Lei Daming.
"Chairman Zhao, it's taken care of, I take it?" Lei Daming was dining at the Arctic Ocean Seafood Restaurant himself at that moment. Receiving Zhao Guangsi's call, he naturally assumed the matter was settled, for in his eyes it hardly counted as a matter at all. Zhao Guangsi was the owner here; if he chose not to serve a table of guests, then he wouldn't—what could Gu Pengzhan do about it?
"Chairman Lei, taken care of? You've done me great harm—they have backing too!" Because of his kinship with Zhao Guangyin, Zhao Guangsi did not have to be overly deferential before Lei Daming, and he poured out his grievance directly: "They brought in someone from the hidden Han family, a man named Han Xiaohu. I can't hold him back. Han Xiaohu not only threatened to drive me out of East Sea City, he said he'd take over my businesses. Chairman Lei, you can't just wash your hands of this!"
"The hidden Han family? What are they doing mixed up with Gu Pengzhan?" Lei Daming frowned, at a loss. "All right, leave it alone for now. I'll report to the boss right away!"
The boss in Lei Daming's mouth was of course Zhao Guangyin of the hidden Zhao family. Lei Daming was currently his money-making representative, and the reason Lei Daming did not want Gu Pengzhan entering the East Sea market was chiefly that Gu Pengzhan's holdings overlapped far too much with his own—hotels, malls, real estate, all lucrative ventures. If Gu Pengzhan came in with considerable strength and no small flow of capital, he might well damage Lei Daming's businesses, and when Zhao Guangyin's blame came down, Lei Daming would have to answer for it.
So Lei Daming did not feel he was in the wrong, and he called Zhao Guangyin directly: "Boss, we have trouble!"
"What trouble?" Zhao Guangyin was well disposed toward Lei Daming. Since being backed, Lei Daming had quickly risen to prominence in East Sea City, bringing the Zhao family large profits every month, with much of it sustainable, so Zhao Guangyin thought highly of him.
"I told you before, Boss, that I joined forces with local East Sea City merchants to squeeze out an outsider and keep him from doing business here—after all, what he wants to do overlaps with our own ventures..." Lei Daming laid out the background first, to show that he had not picked a quarrel with the hidden Han family out of personal spite.
"Mm, I know. This outsider has connections?" Zhao Guangyin quickly put the pieces together.
"Exactly. The hidden Han family has come to back them up!" Lei Daming nodded. "The man who came is named Han Xiaohu!"
"What? Han Xiaohu of the hidden Han family is that outsider's backer?" Zhao Guangyin was mildly startled. Didn't the hidden Han family stay out of business? Could it be that after the Hidden World Family Summit, the hidden Han family too had bared its fangs and meant to go into business to make money?
"Exactly. What happened today was this..." Lei Daming held nothing back and told Zhao Guangyin plainly how he had run into the outsider at the Arctic Ocean Seafood Restaurant and then had Zhao Guangsi make things difficult for him.
"Mm, you did nothing wrong." Zhao Guangyin nodded after hearing him out. Lei Daming was indeed arrogant and overbearing, but in the end he had acted in the interests of the hidden Zhao family's businesses, so Zhao Guangyin could not but stand up for him!
