"My boyfriend is sick and can't get up. The bank card is in the back pocket of his trousers. I can't get it out..." Shen Yushu made as if to lift Wei Zhao, straining with great difficulty, but she could not move him an inch.
"All right, sweetheart, get out of the car. The two of us will search him ourselves. You just need to tell us the PIN!" the man in black urged impatiently.
"Oh, sure!" Shen Yushu hopped out of the car and stood behind the man in black, while secretly shooting Gu Mengyao and Tang Zhi an urgent hand signal.
Of course, neither the man in black nor the bald man saw any of this—they were already bent over eagerly, ready to search Wei Zhao for the bank card. The man in black did happen to think that it felt rather hot inside the car, but he did not give it much thought. After all, the car had been parked here with the engine off for a long time, windows shut tight. How could it not be hot inside?
And as soon as Shen Yushu left Wei Zhao's side, an unnatural flush spread over his face. Of course, this eerie change went completely unnoticed by the two men, for they were already blinded by the lure of money.
Tang Zhi and Gu Mengyao were briefly puzzled by Shen Yushu's actions and gestures. But once they saw her standing behind the man in black with her right foot lifted high, they immediately understood her meaning.
Just a moment earlier, Tang Zhi and Gu Mengyao had been wondering what bank card Wei Zhao could possibly have with three hundred thousand on it. Now they understood—Xiao Shu was up to her old tricks again.
So Tang Zhi and Gu Mengyao hurried over to stand behind the bald man. Meanwhile, Shen Yushu gathered all her strength and kicked the man in black squarely in the back. These past days she had carried Wei Zhao on her back to the hotel every night, and her strength had grown considerably. Caught utterly off guard, the man in black was sent straight into the car, where he landed sprawled across Wei Zhao.
On the other side, Tang Zhi and Gu Mengyao moved as well. Both lashed out with flying kicks, sending the bald man hurtling into the car too. Then, together with Shen Yushu, they slammed the rear doors shut tight.
"Argh—argh!" From inside the car came two bloodcurdling shrieks, along with the pungent smell of something burning. The agonized screams grew more and more horrifying.
The reek of burning, however, only grew stronger, while the screams from inside the car weakened by degrees. After a short while, they had faded into complete silence.
When Shen Yushu, Gu Mengyao, and Tang Zhi opened the doors again, the two men's bodies were covered with large patches of burns. Their faces had been burned beyond all recognition. Clearly, they had both sunk into unconsciousness. To stay awake through burns of such severity would have been simply impossible.
Shen Yushu dragged the two robbers—burned until they hardly resembled human beings—to the roadside and dumped them there. Dusting off her hands, she said, "Done! Let's go move that fallen log."
Tang Zhi and Gu Mengyao both gave Shen Yushu a thumbs-up. Ruthless indeed! Who could have come up with such a move—using Wei Zhao's own scorching body to burn the two robbers half to death? Those two had really run into eight lifetimes of bad luck the moment they met Shen Yushu.
Of all the people they could have tried to rob, they had to cross paths with Troublemaker Shu—one of the two members of the prankster duo. And if Feng Xiaoxiao had been there as well, whether those two would have made it out alive would have been quite another matter.
