Chapter 1669 — What Martial Technique

"His head? No, I don't think so. He was injured in the chest by Wei Zhao earlier... Before that, I think Wei Zhao used a Rising Dragon Fist that struck him below the cheek. Could that move have damaged his head?" You Panhu asked, startled.
"That seems unlikely!" You Zhentian examined the wound on Lan Mao's cheek. It was not serious at all—purely an external injury. It had not even damaged the bone. That punch, one could say, had no lethal force whatsoever. "What Rising Dragon Fist? It wasn't that move that did this!"
You Zhentian's judgment was accurate. He was an Earth-rank expert himself, and one well versed in medicine and alchemy, with particular knowledge of external and internal injuries. Wei Zhao's punch had indeed been exactly as he said—devoid of any lethal force. Wei Zhao had only been putting on a show to fool Lan Mao!
Moreover, both men were early Earth-rank experts with true qi protecting their bodies. An ordinary punch or kick truly could not inflict much damage.
"That's right, Family Head—afterward, that Wei Zhao said something about how 'death may be spared but punishment cannot be avoided,' and then he touched Lan Mao's head with his hand, and Lan Mao became like this..." Huang Mao suddenly recalled the scene and hurriedly spoke up. "Could it be that touch—could he have used some special martial technique?"
"A touch? And it destroyed the meridians and nerves in his head?" You Zhentian was stunned. He had never heard of anyone who could use a martial technique with a mere touch, and destroy the meridians and nerves of the head while leaving no visible injury on the surface. That was a bit too miraculous. So he said, "How could that be? There's not a trace of external injury on Lan Mao's head!"
"Could it be the legendary 'Strike the Ox Through the Mountain'?" You Xiaoxin was also a person of broad experience and knowledge, and a legendary martial technique suddenly occurred to her.
"Strike the Ox Through the Mountain?" You Zhentian's expression shifted slightly! This was a martial technique of that ** ancient sect, the Tomorrow Upon Tomorrow Sect. He had heard it was a skill from the legendary Chrysanthemum Treasure Manual, but no one had ever mastered it. Could this Wei Zhao be a member of the Tomorrow Upon Tomorrow Sect?
If that were truly the case, then this grudge would be a grave one indeed! Of course, although the Tomorrow Upon Tomorrow Sect was itself an ancient sect, compared to the Profound Elixir Sect, it was not much stronger. In recent years the Profound Elixir Sect had developed rapidly, and before the Profound Elixir Sect, even the Tomorrow Upon Tomorrow Sect had to yield a measure of respect.
But the key was Wei Zhao's identity. To know a martial technique like Strike the Ox Through the Mountain, he must surely be a direct heir of the Chrysanthemum Treasure Manual. If they made an enemy of the core of such a sect, would the Profound Elixir Sect be willing to back the hidden You family because of it?
If it were an ordinary member of the Tomorrow Upon Tomorrow Sect, that would still be tolerable, but to harm their core members would amount to open war between two great sects!
"The Tomorrow Upon Tomorrow Sect, the Chrysanthemum Treasure Manual..." You Xiaoxin nodded and said.
"If that is truly the case, then Wei Zhao's background is no small matter..." You Zhentian frowned, but then suddenly said, "No! That member of the Tomorrow Upon Tomorrow Sect who mastered the Chrysanthemum Treasure Manual—I heard he also took part in the Ice Palace trials, and was crippled by someone... This Wei Zhao cannot possibly be from the Tomorrow Upon Tomorrow Sect!"
