Earlier at the exit of the ancient tomb he had been struck by a hail of arrows, and Old Yu had thought nothing of it at the time, but after coming out of the tomb he began to suffer dizziness, blurred vision, and red blotches spreading all over his body! From Old Yu's experience, he judged that he was most likely poisoned!
At first Old Yu had paid it no mind, taking an antidote pill, a special medicine of the hidden noble houses that could cure a great many poisons, and after taking it he assumed everything would be fine.
But when night came, Old Yu found the red blotches on his body growing more and more numerous, and besides dizziness and blurred vision, he was seized with nausea, worse than before! Only then did Old Yu realize something was wrong, and inwardly he felt a secret regret that he truly should not have turned on the male tomb robber. If he had not misjudged the strength of the male robber and his companion, he would not have fallen to his present plight, and had he stayed with the male robber, he would likely never have been hit by the poisoned arrows!
Realizing the antidote pill had no effect, Old Yu dared not linger and hurried back to Songshan City. After finding a hotel to settle in, he dialed the number of the steward of the hidden Yu family who was responsible for liaising with him.
"Steward Yu, this is Yu Huoxing." Old Yu said respectfully to Steward Yu.
"Oh, so it is Yu Huoxing. Is your mission complete? Are you out of the ancient tomb? Did you get anything?" Steward Yu asked.
Old Yu's heart sank at once in disappointment. He had risked life and limb and nearly died, yet the people of the hidden Yu family cared nothing for his safety, only for the thing they wanted! He had called, and they had not asked a single word about his welfare, only whether he had gotten the item!
"The ancient tomb was far too perilous. I have been poisoned and have now returned to Songshan City. The antidote pill is useless. I cannot hold on much longer. I ask Steward Yu to send a skilled healer to cure my poison." Old Yu felt some anger in his heart, and simply said nothing about having obtained the Qi Gathering Pill, speaking only of his poisoning.
"Poisoned? What did you do? How could you be so careless?" Steward Yu was taken aback. "So you failed to complete the mission?"
"As I said, the ancient tomb was extremely dangerous, and those who robbed the tomb with me are basically all dead!" Old Yu felt even more chilled. It seemed the hidden Yu family had never regarded an outsider like him as a member of the family at all, treating him entirely like a lackey to be ordered about!
"So that is how it is..." Steward Yu was disappointed and rather contemptuous of Old Yu's ability, so he said, "It is impossible for the hidden Yu family to send anyone else to rescue you. Apart from you, who joined the hidden Yu family recently and are not very conspicuous, everyone else is on record with the Noble Houses Arbitration Association. If anyone went to the secular world, they would certainly be watched by the people of the association. If they learned of your affair, that is something we could not bear!"
"Steward Yu, do you mean to abandon me?" Old Yu felt a surge of fury. Were the people of the hidden Yu family so heartless? He was dying for the hidden Yu family, yet they kept making excuses?
"Yu Huoxing, of course I do not mean that." Steward Yu sensed Old Yu's displeasure and hastily explained, "You understand the difficulties of the hidden noble houses. This way, in Songshan City there is a miracle doctor, the Medicine King of the hidden Zhao family. Our hidden Yu family also has marriage ties with the hidden Zhao family. I will arrange it for you. Go to him for detoxification. Of course, he may charge some medical fees as appropriate. That cannot be helped. Just pay him!"
