"A mere mid Profound Rank pup — one slap from this old man and he's dead." Pi Yangyang nodded coolly. He was the classic bully who preyed on the weak and cowered before the strong.
"Tonight, the two of you go with Xiao Wangba and Xiao Wangdao to intercept Gu Mengyao's car. The two of them know which vehicle it is — let them point it out from a distance. My brother and I would rather not be seen at the scene," Xiao Ben said.
"Fine, no problem!" Pi Yangyang thumped his chest in assurance.
Xiao Wangdao and Xiao Wangba were entrusted with an important duty, and both were overjoyed within. To carry out a mission alongside two Profound Rank experts — that was an honor indeed. So the pair promptly got in touch with Wu Chengtian, with whom they were on particularly good terms.
"Brother Wu, it's Wangba!" Xiao Wangba dialed Wu Chengtian's number. "Got anything planned for tonight, Brother Wu?"
"Nothing — why do you ask?" Aside from studying, day in and day out, how to win over Sun Jingyan, Wu Chengtian truly had little else to occupy him. He had hardly set foot in the company he owned more than a handful of times; it existed purely as a status symbol.
"Here's the thing, Brother Wu — don't you hate that punk Wei Zhao? Today the two Pi family experts of our Xiao family are going to kidnap Gu Mengyao, and when the time comes there may well be a clash with Li Fu and Wei Zhao. My father has already told both Pi experts to kill Wei Zhao outright. So, Brother Wu, would you care to come watch?" Xiao Wangba asked.
"Kill Wei Zhao?" Wu Chengtian was taken aback. He hated Wei Zhao with a passion, true — but he had only ever wanted to make trouble for the fellow and drive him away from Sun Jingyan's side. As for actually killing him... that had never so much as crossed his mind. Arrogant and full of himself though he was, Wu Chengtian was no one of a venomous heart, so the moment he heard the Xiao family meant to do Wei Zhao in, he jumped.
But this was the Xiao family's affair, backed as it was by the hidden Pi family, and there was nothing Wu Chengtian could usefully say. Kill him, then — he only hoped that when Sun Jingyan eventually learned of it, she would not hold it against him. He was a mere Yellow Rank expert; how could he possibly contend with that peak late Profound Rank expert of the hidden Pi family? Even the Wu family was no match for them!
"That's right — Wei Zhao is a Profound Rank expert himself. This will be a bout between top experts, and an external-style expert taking on an internal-style one at that. Aren't you an external-style expert too, Brother Wu? Come observe, and you're bound to pick up a thing or two!" Xiao Wangba said.
Wu Chengtian had not wanted to go join the fun — he feared that once Sun Jingyan learned the truth, she would ignore him all the more. But hearing Xiao Wangba put it this way, he changed his mind in a flash. Yes, a bout between experts — with an external-style expert involved no less! Simply observing it would do him a world of good; a single subtle movement might teach him a great deal. And so Wu Chengtian began to itch again inside...
