Chapter 1287 — The Clue to the Fire Spirit Sacred Fruit. This Restroom's Security Is Still Too Poor—A Call Made Here by Wei Zhao, Like the One He Made in the Restroom Where Su Jiaonang Had Been, Could Be Interrupted by Anyone at Any Moment!

"Fine, I know you're anxious. I'll go look through them in a little while, and the moment there's news I'll tell you at once!" said Old Man Wei. "If there's nothing else, I'll hang up first. Cheer up a bit; don't go around so glum and downcast all the time."

"I know." Warmth welled up in Wei Zhao's heart. For all that the old man was harsh with him, and at times forgot to act his age, when trouble truly came to him the old man was the one who cared for him most, quietly doing a great many things for him behind his back.

He hung up and let out a sigh. Still, the news was good news. Wei Zhao put the phone away and was just about to leave the restroom when, unexpectedly, a figure came stumbling in through the door!

Xu Shilan had never expected to be suddenly seized by a headache while onstage. Of course, her headaches came on every so often, so it was nothing unusual — only this time the sudden onset left her at a loss as to what to do.

All along, Xu Shilan had wanted to be honest and tell all her fans frankly about her illness, but the company would not allow it, afraid it would damage her image and her career as a star. So Xu Shilan could only play along and keep it hidden for the time being.

Xu Shilan forced herself to finish the song. As the stage lowered for her costume change, she did not even have time to say a word to Sister Wang before she ran quickly toward the restroom; she meant to wash her face with cold water and clear her head.

She trusted that Sister Wang would understand what had come over her, that Sister Wang would tidy up the aftermath on her behalf. Xu Shilan could not spare a thought for whether the cold water would smudge her makeup; she wanted only to make the headache subside.

Seeing Xu Shilan's state, Sister Wang did not hold her back; naturally she knew what was wrong with her. The next moment, she made ready to go onstage and announce that something had gone wrong with the concert stage's equipment, that it required emergency repairs, and that once the repairs were done the concert would resume.

Of course, once Sister Wang made that announcement, all the fans were disappointed, yet there was nothing to be done. Everyone wanted the concert to go on, but a stage malfunction was not the sort of thing human effort could control, so the only option now was to wait patiently until the stage equipment was fixed before the concert could continue.

Over here, Xu Shilan came stumbling and bursting into the restroom. She did not notice that anyone else was inside; she could not wait to turn on the tap and dash cold water against her cheeks, which had gone pale.

"Phew—" Xu Shilan let out a long breath. The splash of cold water had eased the splitting pain in her head, but the moment she left the sting of the water behind, the agony came thundering back.

To put it plainly, she used the icy tap water to numb the nerves of her head and win temporary relief from the pain — but this was a remedy for the symptom only, not the root. She could hardly stand onstage singing while dousing herself with water the whole time.

Wei Zhao's eyes went wide. He was thoroughly puzzled by this girl in bright stage costume who had suddenly rushed in to wash her face with cold water. Who on earth was she?
