Chapter 1259 — Taking Over Your Custody

The Blossom Guardian · Page 1 of 2

"He is he, and I am me." Wei Zhao reached out and rubbed Ying Ziyu's colored hair. "Dye this back to black right now, or I'll shave you bald!"

"Ah! Don't touch my hair! My hairstyle!" Ying Ziyu shrieked, glaring at Wei Zhao in a puff of fury. "I'm going to kill you!"

"Be my guest — if you can beat me." Wei Zhao paid her no mind and went on finding fault with her. "And no more of this skintight top. It's holding back your growth. **That's big — squeezed up, isn't it? Next time toss the bra out for me, or sooner or later you'll squeeze it out of shape!"

"Ah—" Ying Ziyu was ready to go mad! She wished she could hack Wei Zhao down with one stroke, but when she thought of how he had dealt with Scar Bear and his men, she was quite certain that if she raised a hand against him, the one who got worked over would be herself!

True, he was her brother's friend and would never really hurt her, but he certainly wouldn't go easy on her either!

Ying Ziyu's underlings all stared at one another, wanting to laugh and not daring to. They had seen with their own eyes just how formidable Wei Zhao was, so toward this business of him insulting their big sister, they dared to rage in silence! You could tell from those few moves of hers alone! Otherwise, how could Ying Ziyu, a mere slip of a girl, have commanded the prestige to become the big sister?

And since Wei Zhao was a friend of Ying Ziyu's big brother, no wonder — no wonder he was so formidable. He was probably a special forces soldier too!

"I don't need you looking after me! Who even knows you?" Ying Ziyu glowered at Wei Zhao, drawing a line between them.

"Your brother asked me to take over your guardianship. It is compulsory. You have no right to resist. Of course, I won't object if you try — I just doubt you have what it takes." Wei Zhao had figured it out too: with a problem girl like Ying Ziyu, he could only use a hard hand. Softness would get him nowhere.

So Wei Zhao's earlier beating of Scar Bear and his men had been the first step in showing his strength; afterwards, his extremely forceful demands that Ying Ziyu change this and change that, phrased as orders rather than as suggestions, were likewise meant to deny her any room to haggle.

"You—why should I believe you?" By now Ying Ziyu had half confirmed Wei Zhao's identity. She had almost never mentioned her big brother's name to anyone, and Wei Zhao's skills were so extraordinary. He ought to be her brother's comrade-in-arms...

Wei Zhao took out his phone and logged into an encrypted online album, from which he pulled up a photo: a group shot of himself with Pangolin and Yang Huaijun and the others. These pictures he had kept sealed in the online album, seldom touched, but since today's business was to make Ying Ziyu believe him, he had to produce some evidence.

"This is a photo of me with your brother, taken five years ago. People like us don't often get our pictures taken anyway." Wei Zhao lowered his voice, speaking quietly enough that only Ying Ziyu could hear: "This one was taken when a mission in North Africa ended. I was the captain. Your brother was one of my men!"

Ying Ziyu was startled. She had never imagined Wei Zhao had been the captain! Then he would be even more formidable than her big brother? Taking the phone, she studied the photo carefully. She had this very picture herself — it had stood on the desk in her brother's room all along, so it was hardly unfamiliar to her; it was just that she had never paid the other people in it any attention.

Now, holding it in her hand and looking closely, she found that the man in the middle of the photo did indeed look very much like the Wei Zhao before her — only far younger... or rather, far more childish!
