Chapter 1204 — Distracting Attention

But Wei Zhao only smiled and withdrew the silver needles from Tang Jucheng's legs. "There now, Uncle Tang, why don't you stand up and take a few steps?"
"That's it?" Tang Jucheng blinked. He had not expected that, in the middle of chatting with Wei Zhao, his attention would be drawn away and the treatment finished before he knew it! Which meant he had suffered no pain at all.
Only now did Tang Zhi understand: Wei Zhao had been rambling on with her father about this and that, all sorts of idle nonsense, precisely to distract him and ease his pain. So she no longer blamed Wei Zhao—though it was really a little too embarrassing!
Tang Jucheng got down from the bed and prepared to walk a couple of circles around the room. In fact, his legs had already been able to walk slowly before this; though he limped, a slow walk had been no problem.
But this time, once Tang Jucheng got out of bed, he nearly fell flat on his face at the first step!
"Dad!" Tang Zhi was startled and rushed over to steady him, but she was thoroughly baffled: "Dad, what's wrong? Wasn't it your left foot before? How come now it seems like it's your right foot?"
"I don't know either..." Tang Jucheng was just as bewildered. Before it had been the left leg that was bad; now it had turned into the right. Had the illness not been cured, but simply moved?
Hearing this, Tang Zhi quickly supported him through another two steps, but Tang Jucheng still lurched along, one step deep and one shallow, walking very unsteadily. If Tang Zhi had not been holding him up, he would have nearly fallen to the floor!
"Uncle Tang, in your heart you still don't believe you're a normal person!" Wei Zhao could not help laughing at the sight. "When you walk now, you're still putting the force in as though your left leg were useless. But now both your legs are fine. With one leg pushing and the other not, the weight comes down unevenly—no wonder you can't keep steady!"
"Oh? Is that so?" Tang Jucheng was taken aback, and thought carefully about how he had just been walking. It did seem that way! But it was not deliberate on his part; it was simply habit turned to second nature. He had always walked like that before, and now he did it unconsciously.
No wonder he was stumbling—so that was the reason! At the thought, Tang Jucheng tried walking with equal force in both legs, and sure enough, he no longer swayed and staggered as before; gradually, his gait became normal!
Seeing this, Tang Zhi gasped and covered her mouth. "Dad, I think your legs really are better!"
"Mm, seems there's really nothing wrong now! Haha!" After a few more steps, Tang Jucheng laughed out loud in delight. "Better! Really better!"
"Of course you're better. Get used to it, and you'll be no different from anyone else." Wei Zhao smiled. "Yunyun, let's go out and have a look. Xiaofen should be here by now, shouldn't she?"
Kang Xiaofeng and Xiaofen had gone to Xiaofen's house first; once things were settled there, they had come on to Tang Zhi's home. At this moment they were waiting in the living room. Knowing that Wei Zhao was treating Tang Jucheng, they had not gone in to disturb him.
When the bedroom door opened, Wei Zhao walked in front, with Tang Jucheng and Tang Zhi behind him. Though Tang Jucheng walked very slowly, he no longer needed Tang Zhi's support—only, fearing he might fall, she still stayed close at his side.
Even so, the shock it gave Kang Xiaofeng and Xiaofen was enormous! Tang Jucheng's legs had once been in worse shape than Xiaofen's; he had been the sort who lay in bed and could not get up at all. Yet, step by step, they had witnessed one miracle after another, until at last Tang Jucheng could walk steady and sure! If anyone claimed Wei Zhao had no hand in it, no one would believe them.
Kang Xiaofeng rose to his feet, visibly excited. "Uncle Tang, congratulations! Your legs are completely healed?"
