Chapter 1165 — Fool or Genius? Xie Yufeng Landed a Punch and Was Instantly Overjoyed: Sure Enough, His Guess Had Been Right — This Old Man, Too, Had Secrets and Was Hiding His Strength!

At the thought, Xie Yufeng raised his fists and swung away, blow after blow.

He did not need true qi to teach the old wretch a lesson! True, Grandpa Zhu was the more powerful of the two, but with neither of them drawing on true qi, Xie Yufeng naturally held every advantage. He was a young man — in raw stamina alone, he was already a cut above.

Set true qi aside entirely, and Xie Yufeng's physique far outstripped that of any old man. And so the one-sided beating began.

Before Chen Xi could so much as blink, Xie Yufeng had his hands on someone. She jumped in fright.

The surprise and delight of seeing Wei Zhao had not yet found expression on her face when it gave way to deep concern: "Big brother, you know that man, don't you? Please tell him to stop hitting Grandpa Zhu, won't you..."

"I'm not sure my word would do much good here... Your Grandpa Zhu was the one who started things — he was about to give the man a palm strike... He provoked this himself; there's nothing I can do," Wei Zhao said, helpless. "But from the look of it, your Grandpa Zhu has an ace up his sleeve. He shouldn't get hurt. It'll be all right."

"Ah?" Chen Xi did not quite follow, but there was truth in what Wei Zhao had said — Grandpa Zhu did seem to have been the one to provoke the fight?

Grandpa Zhu nearly spat blood on hearing Wei Zhao's words. If you hadn't come, wouldn't I already have given him a palm strike? What business did you have coming here at all?

But Grandpa Zhu's grievance had nowhere to go. Xie Yufeng's fists came raining down like drops of rain, and in an instant they had burst his face into bloody bloom.

Yet Grandpa Zhu had sharp eyes, and one thing had not escaped him: Xie Yufeng did not seem to be using true qi at all?

If anyone thought Xie Yufeng had held back his true qi out of fear of hurting him — having seen him sheathe his own — Grandpa Zhu would not have believed it, not if you beat him to death. That was simply not the sort of man Xie Yufeng was! The only explanation was that the boy was still wary of Wei Zhao? That he did not dare use his true qi?

At this thought Grandpa Zhu actually breathed a sigh of relief. So, however hard the boy hit, it would amount to nothing worse than surface wounds, never reaching bone or sinew. He would swallow his pride for now — and the moment Wei Zhao was gone, it would be time to come back and settle the score.

Xie Yufeng, was it? You just wait for me. If I don't put you in a hospital today, my name isn't Zhu! Killing Xie Yufeng, of course, was another matter — Grandpa Zhu did not dare go that far. The boy claimed to be of the Yu family of the mortal realm; if he killed a scion of that house and it brought trouble down on the family head...

Wei Zhao had meant all along to let Xie Yufeng test this Grandpa Zhu. Seeing the old man take such a beating without so much as striking back, he was now certain: the fellow was deliberately concealing his strength, not wanting to be found out! And that meant there was definitely something wrong with the man.

After all, Grandpa Zhu putting away his true qi earlier, when Wei Zhao had come over to mediate, could still be explained. But now it seemed he had been on his guard against Wei Zhao all along.

"Chen Xi, how is your mother doing?" Wei Zhao turned and asked.

"Much better since she took the medicine..." The moment her mother came up, a glow of happiness crossed Chen Xi's eyes. That her mother's condition was improving was Chen Xi's dearest wish. "Thank you, Brother Wei Zhao!"

"Heh, it was nothing — a small effort, that's all." Yet Wei Zhao's gaze drifted to Grandpa Zhu, heavy with unspoken meaning. It would not do to question Chen Xi about it now, though; he would wait for a chance to ask her alone.

Just then Feng Xiaoxiao spotted Chen Xi as well and hurried over. Chen Xi greeted her in return: "Sister Xiaoxiao..."
